- At the immunity challenge, one tribemate makes a big gesture to a fellow castaway.
- Previously on 'Survivor': Since Day 1, Coach has been leading a strong alliance of five on the Upolu tribe: Rick, Brandon, Sophie, Albert and himself. He added Edna as a sixth. Brandon told her she had no shot of moving up among the group. After the merge, Coach pulled Cochran to his side. Since then, Keith, Ozzy, Jim, Dawn and Whitney have been booted. Now, Ozzy, Dawn and Whitney are on Redemption Island.
Back at camp: Coach rejoices in having "eradicated all former Savaii." Edna is starting to worry now about where the remaining players stand. Cochran says he is "aware that the family can turn on me at any moment."
The next day, Cochran is apparently talking a lot, telling weird stories of his childhood. Sophie says she can see why people got annoyed with him. She thinks Cochran truly believes that someone will want to take him to the end of the game. Brandon is "obsessively devout," Cochran says, thinking he's trying to suppress something scary.
Cochran pulls everyone together to make a case for keeping him around. He asks for them to save him for at least one Tribal Council, even saying he'd like to stick around long enough to celebrate his birthday in three days with them. The only player not there is Edna. Sophie is annoyed. Coach and Albert thinks they should keep Cochran around, but Sophie says she'd vote him out and keep Edna for another day.
Redemption Island: Ozzy, Dawn and Whitney arrive for the duel. They have to balance ceramic dishes on the end of a "long, wobbly arm," as Jeff describes it. The last person standing remains in the game.
Dawn, after several near-misses and saves, finally loses her stack and is out of the game. She tries to fight back tears while Ozzy and Whitney continue to battle. Whitney's stack wobbles a bit and soon enough her dishes crash to the ground. He shares big hugs with Whitney and Dawn.
Later, Ozzy calls Redemption Island his home and says there's "no one better suited to be out here than me."
Back at camp: Albert thinks Edna is trying to win points by doing laundry. Meanwhile, Cochran is holding fish. Albert then gets up to help with the laundry, accidentally putting out the fire by dumping a bunch of water on it. Edna is bothered that he laid in a hammock all day and then put out the fire. She complains to Rick, who agrees with her assessment and says, "That's why they call him Prince Albert."
Edna goes and talks to Coach about her position in the pecking order, and he confirms that she'll go after Cochran does. But he tells us that keeping Edna and Cochran would be smart because they'd never vote him out.
Coach and Cochran are doing their stretching and balancing -- er, tai chi -- on the beach. Afterward, Cochran is feeling confident about his chances in the immunity challenge.
Immunity challenge: In a two-phase challenge, the players will first have to try to land three beanbags on crates that are at different distances. The first three players two land their bags will move to the next round. Albert is the first to move on, while Coach, Sophie and Rick each have two bags. Cochran lands a second bag just before Rick lands his third. Sophie then claims the final spot in the next round.
In the second round, the players have to hit three targets with a slingshot that fires coconuts. Albert hits one, then Rick hits two. Sophie falls behind as Albert hits his second. Albert then knocks down the third target and wins immunity and a trip to the "Survivor" day spa, with a massage and a shower.
He gets a chance to pick one player. He selects Coach, then asks Jeff if he can pick another player to bring. When Jeff says no, Albert asks if he can give his reward to another player. He decides to give it to Cochran, "the birthday boy," and asks that if anyone wins a food reward, they should pick him.
Cochran immediately wonders about Albert's motivation. Cochran later admits to us that he lied about his birthday coming up.
After his massage, Cochran goes to talk to Albert, who confirms that Cochran's chances aren't great. The two talk about getting rid of Rick. Cochran goes to Edna and tells her that Albert is mad at Rick and would vote him out. She's on board. Cochran then goes to Coach and tells him about the plot to vote out Rick. Coach says nothing, and goes into Coach thinking mode. He tells us that the decision about which way he goes will determine the rest of this game.
Tribal Council: Coach says the possibilities with this vote "are endless." He says things have been "crazy" that day. Cochran says he wants to "collect a debt" that the tribe owes him because he "gave life" to it after the merge. Coach agrees that Cochran's move at that time was "very bold and courageous."
Edna admits she's emotional because she feels like she's "sixth," and she thought everyone in the group was equal. Brandon chirps out of nowhere, saying that, indeed, Cochran will be voted out next and Edna will go after that. Brandon then gets all emotional, saying, "I want to do wrong things, I'm human, but there's something something stronger inside me that won't let me." Cochran tells Jeff that Brandon is proving that he isn't a smart person to be aligned with "because talking strategy with Brandon is like talking to you (Jeff) about shirts that aren't blue." This prompts a huge smile from Jeff. "He just doesn't comprehend it, it's just not in his vocabulary." Albert agrees. Sophie also agrees and says Brandon's outlook is "sometimes unsettling."
Sophie goes on to say she's not concerned about what will happen with the tribe, but Cochran interjects and asks, "If Edna wins immunity, what happens?" The dramatic music rises as Coach and Albert's eyebrows go up. Jeff says, "Wow," and Sophie says, "Then it starts."
Cochran says it would be "extremely humiliating" to get voted out now -- probably earlier than he would have if he'd stuck with his own tribe.
The vote: Rick writes down Cochran's name, and Cochran returns the favor. Edna writes down Rick's name and hopes everyone else will follow suit.
Jeff reads the votes: Cochran, Rick, Rick, Cochran, Cochran, and the 13th person voted out is Cochran.
