Talking Lucio Fulci's Zombie

Flesh Eaters on Film (2011)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Nice ten-minute featurette with ZOMBIE co-producer Fabrizio De Angelis who goes into several details on the making of the Lucio Fulci classic. The documentary features a wide amount of topics but the most interesting are when the producer talks about how he would sell these movies and the fact that the majority of them were sold around the world before they were even made. The producer would simply pitch an idea, buyers would pitch the money and that was that. Another interesting topic is when we learn that Dario Argento sued the producers of ZOMBIE for using "ZOMBI 2" as the title to cash in on his Italian version of DAWN OF THE DEAD. It's funny to hear Argento getting so upset with this movie and it's too bad that we didn't get to hear from him on the matter. Other topics include stealing shots on the Brooklyn Bridge, the cast and of course the working relationship with Fulci. Apparently it was a good one as the producer doesn't say a single bad thing about the director, which is pretty rare as it seems most people had issues with him. This can be found on the second disc of Blue Underground's special edition of the film.
