Queen Sugar ends forever, but it could have been written better and storylines could have made more sense. First, I was highly disappointed that the writers basically dropped Charley in the final season. Make it make sense. I mean really, Charley has been such a huge part of all of the seasons and then sudden she's gone and it made NO sense. I'm guessing it had to be some contractual issue with the actress because what they did to Charley and Davis and how snippets of them were added throughout the episodes was just lazy writing period. Charley should have had a major reaction to Micah posting that video online, but the fans were cheated by the writers not showing her. Also, Charley and Parker going at each other was something that I was looking forward to, but it didn't happen. Thumbs down all the way for the writers for the chopping of Charley story....
What saved the series in the final episode was all the stories had a happy ending. I liked that Nova finally accepted and got together with Calvin. They were meant to be throughout the series, but of course the writers dragged their story out annoyingly for seven whole seasons. As a character, Nova is not particularly likable. She slept around and no matter her partner, man or woman at the time, she could never be trusted with a lover or family. She was a major hypocrite and conflicted woman throughout the series...preacher black power, but still selling weed to her people and then judging Calvin for something he did as a police officer. I was so over Nova until the series ended. Calvin has always been the love of her life and the saving grace for her was getting back with him in the end.
Yes, season 7 could have been better scripts, but the acting was always on point in the series. I'll give the end a 5 star.
