I'm a black woman. I know well the disappointing and ironic hypocrisy of BLM leaders buy mansions and moving away from the people they are supposed to help. So many young people all over the world connected with movement because surprise there are black people all over the world with histories with similar ancestral trauma. The young people's mention of world events is relevant not shoved in as other criticism assert.
This story doesn't let up from the emotional pain of the loss of their daughter/sister/aunt. The characters are not driven by random events in the past but choices they've already made. This serves to feel like this story is all encompassing and deep. The male lead character also has an mysterious back story, and I want to follow him as he solves more cold cases. Hopefully we can have a great anthology like like Netflix's, Sinner.
