James Earl Jones, a commanding presence onscreen who nonetheless gained greater fame off-camera as the sonorous voice of Star Wars villain Darth Vader and Mufasa, the benevolent leader in The Lion King, died Monday. He was 93.
Jones, who burst into national prominence in 1970 with his powerful Oscar-nominated performance as America’s first Black heavyweight champion in The Great White Hope, died at his home in Dutchess County, New York, Independent Artist Group announced.
The distinguished star made his big-screen debut in Stanley Kubrick’s Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) and was noteworthy in many other films, including Claudine (1974) opposite Diahann Carroll; Field of Dreams (1989), as the reclusive author Terence Mann; and The Sandlot (1993), as the intimidating neighborhood guy Mr. Mertle.

A lawsuit has been filed against the sons of baseball legend Roberto Clemente, who allegedly defrauded an indie production company by selling it the rights to a biopic of their father despite Legendary Pictures having already optioned the film.
That production banner, Inside the Park, in a complaint filed on Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, says it developed the movie for over two years only for it to fall apart after learning that the endeavor was solely meant to “generate renewed interest and publicity” in the hall-of-famer for another project.
Luis R. Clemente and Roberto Clemente Jr. struck a deal with Inside the Park in January 2023 for the rights to the creation, production and distribution of a feature based on the life of their father and the biography “Clemente – The True Legacy of an Undying Hero,” which they authored. The company subsequently learned only months later that there was...

Updated, with comment from Cmg: Baseball legend Roberto Clemente is at the center of a new lawsuit over the rights to his life story.
More than 50 years after his death, the Pittsburgh Pirates icon generated renewed interest in the entertainment industry. But a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court claims that two of Clemente’s family members and their agent, Cmg, sold off rights to his story even though another production entity held an option to it.
Read the Roberto Clemente lawsuit.
The plaintiff, Inside the Park LLC, contends that early last year, they were granted “an exclusive and irrevocable option to purchase the rights in and to the creation, production and distribution of a feature film based generally on the life of the late Roberto Clemente and the book Clemente – The True Legacy of an Undying Hero.”
But after the principals of Inside the Park, producer Jonah Hirsch...

The recently released blockbuster movie Dune: Part 2 is becoming a massive success, and it does not look like this movie has any intentions to stop its string of earnings anytime soon. Kudos to filmmaker Denis Villeneuve for making this franchise a household name. Thanks to this success, a brand new Mmo video game based on the Dune franchise is also in the works.
This game would reportedly combine the elements of survival open-world games with Mmo mechanics. It’s being developed by Funcom. These are the same people who previously worked on games like Conan Exiles and The Park. While the fact that this new Dune title is on its way seems pretty exciting, there’s one crucial mechanic it would be missing.
Dune: Awakening would be missing the Sandwalking from the movies and books A still from Dune Awakening
For those unfamiliar with the aspects of this franchise...

Jobs can suck. If you’re past 25, you’ve probably had one that left you feeling like a three-legged whippet abandoned at the pound. Maybe everything was grand, and then there was a regime change, and the new boss won’t talk to you. Then you get demoted after getting blamed for something that was really Dilbert No. 8’s fault. Your sense of self-worth nosedives, and you must seek out a therapist who is not in your network. You wander the streets looking up “gaslighting” on your phone and wondering if it is you who sucks.
This is pretty much the setup for Apple TV+’s “Slow Horses” which begins its delightfully grim third season on Wednesday. Ok, there’s a lot of intrigue and gunfire, but at its core it is the tale of precariously employed worker drones making their way through a broken workplace led by a flatulent...

The Park is a film written and directed by Shal Ngo starring Carli McIntyre, Billy Slaughter, Laura Coover and Carmina Garay among others.
An interesting premise, different, well made, but sustained by a literary spirit. Plus, it has a story to tell and character development is included.
Doesn’t that make B-Series sound better?
Storyline
In a dystopian future, a virus kills humans once they reach puberty. Only children are left. This is the story of a group of young people in a park who fight against their own nature.
About the Film
A great little surprise in the form of Lord of the Flies in its plot and with a clear touch of The Purge in its look. A film that gets the most out of its actors, knows how to take advantage of its aesthetics and its plot and, worthwhile in its premise, knows how to take itself seriously,...
