This was extremely entertaining and enjoyable. Amazing chemistry and even better characters but dear Chinese producers, WHY SO MANY EPISODES?!?!
hanalisss26 August 2022
Okay so first I have to say that this show is one of the best historical c dramas I have watched ( and I have watched a lot) Very Well made, costumes, photography, hair, details and fight choreography, everything looks quality.

But there's a clear difference between seasons.

The first season of the series is just SUPERB, so different that usually cliché storylines. Characters are rich and layered and they remain loyal to their personality throughout the whole show.

There's no unnecessary drama or miss understandings or miss communications, this is well written script and as realistic as it can be.

Everything feels genuine, natural and real. I love the fact that all women in this drama have so much strength, personality and development in all storylines, there's a lot of sexist remarks but not nearly as much as other shows ( China's dramas are catching up to the korean new standards of feminism on screen and I am all for it)

Males in this one are not overbearing, controlling, stupidly jealous or just alpha troglodytes. They genuinely are considerate of their female partners and family members, which they just have their own voice.

I also need to mention that he comedy style of the main actress is so organic and contagious, you won't be able to stop smiling. I am a big fan of Zhao Lu Si and I have enjoyed deeply her latest works, she is extremely chameleonic and I am in awe watching her to go from shy and naive, to fearless and confident.

It is a shame a lot of that comedy and utterly enjoyable silly and romantic moments almost disappeared completely in season 2. And the only reason for this is the length of the show, I mean SERIOUSLY this show has around 20/25 episodes that are completely unnecessary. It gets boring at times and so dragging . I have said this many times but Chinese producers and directors should stop doing this. Kdrama found the winning formula of 16 episodes per drama and that is just perfect.

I still watched it all because when things are happening the drama is damn good but all those uneventful episodes, I was yawning.

Regardless, you have to watch it, quality in a bottle, you will enjoy it.

Impressive production
magnoliacream1 September 2022
Solid production about feisty Cheng Shaoshang (Zhao Lusi) who was left to the care of an unloving grandmother by her warrior parents for 10 years while they had been serving the country. She encounters young general Ling Buyi (Leo Wu) who had witnessed his clan being eradicated 15 years ago. The dream husband of every girl in the capital city, Ling Buyi sets his sights on uncouth and uneducated Shaoshang. Their love would be challenged by his thirst for revenge and her childhood scar of feeling abandoned by her parents.

The story is compelling and the acting, especially of Zhao Lusi, is remarkable. However, the pace in the last few episodes got so draggy I dozed off several times.

Another thing that dampened my initial enthusiasm for this drama was the female lead's irrational tendency to hold on to grudges. She had a hard time forgiving her parents for leaving her with her grandmother even after it was explained why they did so. She also had a hard time forgiving Ling Buyi for abandoning her even when he did it to protect her. I found it hard to fully warm up to such a spiteful female lead. This drama could have wrapped up sooner had she just learned to forgive but the writers seemed to have used that nasty trait of hers to keep dragging the drama out.

One more thing that took points off this drama was Lin Buyi's obsession for revenge. I'm so done with this trope. It was shocking how many people he had to kill just to finally get to his main target. By doing so, he just doomed his future. If any of those people he killed had relatives as obsessive as he was, he and Shaoshang wouldn't be as peaceful and happy in the future as the ending suggested.

Part 1 FL storyline took over; Part 2 Heads above the First--Greatness Begins in the stars (2 part review)
ENIGMA0526 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Part 1: This "2 part" drama, I'm going to review separately on here because I feel part 1 is different from part 2. Watching it solely for Wu Lei as he's one of the people I follow. I love him in these commander roles plus the man can have chemistry with a pet rock at only 22 years old. I never read the source material so I'm sure many of the novel readers will disagree with me and that's ok.

Pros: LBY played by WL never disappointed when he hit the screen for the very short amount of time he was in this part. Not only was he lethal and ruthless but he also knew who he wanted from nearly the first episode and was just bidding his time for the sake of the familial politics working around him. He however was also not without flaws and that showed a lot at the end of part 1. CSS/NN played by ZLS was always on her game though also a flawed character. I really appreciated how smart she was without the need of traditional learning. With so many odds against her, she still not only managed to survive but make something of herself.

Other favorite characters included NN's brothers, third uncle and aunt, LBY's guards, Yang Yang, QiQi, emperor and empress. All were very helpful and caring where most of NN's family fell short. Ah Yao was alright but just a sweet kid and I'm glad he was maneuvered accordingly out of her life. Music, costumes, scenery, and that part of production was quite beautiful and I enjoyed that very much. Also the comedic elements helped move many of the slower scenes along.

Cons: This part of the story was slow; like snail paced slow to the point where it was very draggy. I ffw a lot of NN's family drama in the beginning episodes because it was legit yawnsville. I get that they were trying to show how hard she had it and all but it was just too much. The only bright spots were when LBY came into the picture or she traveled to Hua County. Otherwise, it was all very similar and lackluster.

Really poor characters were all the Princesses especially princess seaweed who's whining made you ears hurt. All they did was bully NN and with the same old tired crap, like ladies can y'all sing a different tune? You're all boring. Mommy dearest took the cake and the award for worst mother of the year and I couldn't deal with her; dear lord what a horrible woman. I'd say she was the main antagonist of part one. Dad was ok but essentially had no spine. YS aka chicken feather duster dude didn't need any scenes. He is a contender for NN's heart but each of his scenes were just of him being an idiot to the woman he liked.

Just a lot of unnecessary tropes and cliches, in this first one. I know all of the meat and potatoes will be in the second one but I do wish that the first part had an even backstory on the ML not just a rinse and repeat of FL's crappy home life dynamic, it would have helped a lot with what's coming and made the first portion more even keeled.

Would I recommend it? It's beautiful and if you're a fan of any of the leads or support and are ok with a really slow start, then sure, I would. Because I'm looking forward to part 2 and what it has to deliver.

Part 2: Pros: This is an entire planet above part 1. It's like watching a different drama with the same characters and theme. WL really showed his acting skills in this part be they for being so on point with each battle to the gut wrenching emotions. Absolutely extraordinary given he's only 22 years old; if this and TLB were his first foray into serious acting as an adult as opposed to just a child star, he's making tremendous strides in a wonderful direction. Literally the sky is the only limit for this young man.

He was able to play a highly complicated character with only revenge on his mind for a whole decade, everyone who crosses him or harms those he loves be damned. Then he falls in love and plans to wed but that vengeance is never far behind. Every step he takes before and after what I call the "red wedding" scene, is either calculated to the inch or completely muddled when it comes to NN. He owed her a lot, but he paid for it, and the reconciliation was priceless as well as funny.

ZLS who is known more for her comedy roles which was also well executed here, was able to play a tunnel visioned confused girl with how she grew up and only relying on herself even when that proves to be harmful time and time again until she realizes she's got to put more thought into the consequences of her actions not just the revenge; who has to have her heart shattered in order to mature and she played the role very convincingly.

Other favorite characters were the Empress (until her last breath, she was the mother to NN, her own mother forgot to be), Emperor, Consort Yue, NN's brothers, cousin, Qiqi, HBY's sidekicks (and the rest of the elite Black Armed Guards), the eunuch, 3rd and the original crown prince (though he was a wuss), there were a few others whose names I've forgotten but they were on the side of justice.

Costumes, OSTs, sets, and production in general were all gorgeous. Comedy was absolutely well placed and the Emperor being the biggest shipper of our leads along with the Eunach was always absolutely hysterical. Even the most serious scenes were sprinkled with the proper humor and it made things easier and better to watch. Quite a lot of very comedic scenes which were much needed; especially anytime Consort Yue entered the room and read it to filth; woman deserves a standing ovation!

Love, love, love, love all of HBY's battle scenes, wish we had more of that final battle with Tian Shuo or whatever his name was (also wish they had explained how he ended up being the last villain in the first place; he was just chucked in there to round out the batch, I guess); that seemed rather rushed and lackluster with a lot of talking and declarations in contrast to all of his previous ones which were just spectacular. HBY was an absolute machine and I loved every moment of it.

The leads chemistry was awesome; though FL had three men pining after her and she got engaged or semi engaged to all 3, only with our Superman HBY (shoot him, stab him, harpoon him, throw him off a cliff, or blow him up, he'll return in one piece still, looking fierce and immortal almost lol) was the chemistry palpable from nearly the beginning. Was it the most hot and heavy from all the costume c-dramas I've watched? No. But it was enough that you knew, no matter what, once they acknowledged their love for each other, even with the revenge and abandonment, it wasn't going to be over for them. Not by a long shot.

Cons: Took way too long on the constant bullying of NN. Too many princesses, too much time. That should have all been nipped in the bud a lot faster. I felt like way too many episodes were wasted on that. People claim many were critical of NN, but we were only watching the truth; she was a bit too self-absorbed many times and blamed LBY/HBY for stuff he had no control over and couldn't stop and sometimes she didn't even bother telling him like the river snake incident; often felt she took one step forward and two back. But spending the five years heartbroken and apart, actually matured her properly finally.

What happened in the last few episodes where mommy dearest and Jabba da hut aka grandmother all of a sudden had a change in conscience and became good? They spent most of the series hating on NN or severely punishing her both physically and psychologically and then out of nowhere in a fraction of one episode they were doting on her and to be completely honest, it was like a creepy whiplash. Mommy dearest even whined that she had no idea how to raise a lady which was a total copout because when they returned from the battlefield, NN was still a teen and could have been doted on instead of ignored and the cousin chosen because she was meek and feeble. The inconsistency was beyond staggering. Even chicken feather duster dude was all mellow after he was more or less a bully to NN the entire series (his version of showing he liked her; total moron); but his mellowing out was thankfully a lot more subtle then the other two which made me cringe. Points came off for that.

And what in the heck was that last episode? Ok, HBY and NN hit two different fronts to protect and save, got it! They trust each other totally and completely finally, awesome! But her parents and entire family save jabba da hut riding in from out of the blue made me pause the drama to double check I wasn't watching something else. It was the most twilight zone-ish experience of the entire thing. How did they know? Did NN send a letter or a pigeon before leaving Hua county? I doubt it because she looked stunned to see them as the rest of us were. And why bring family with no fighting experience like the cousin and her husband? Plus she's giving her parents and the rest of them orders on what to do, even though her dad is a general? Like make it make sense please, except it doesn't. Very disappointing after so much great material.

I wish HBY and NN got more time alone to really talk and a wedding would have been nice. But we can take what we can get, I suppose. If it weren't for the very obvious flaws, this drama would have gotten a higher rating. I do hope people in the comments are correct that the director is editing for more cohesion, because a lot is needed here and it's lacking.

Would I recommend it? I absolutely would. Part 1 can be browsed as it's really a one track style, but all the goodies lay here in part 2. This is maybe my second or third costume/Republican drama getting a 9 or 9.5 this year and it certainly earns it. So definitely check it out; you'll laugh, cry, be unhappy, and root for all of the good characters as they go through life.

The Emperor stole this series, hands down!
Bibiliography15 September 2022
Whoever wrote this story deserves all the accolades because this series upended most of the tropes that I dislike in C dramas and made something so refreshing and compulsively watchable. Leo Wu and Zhao Lusi were spectacular and the other actors played their roles skillfully from the first episode until the last, I was glued to my screen. I love this and I honestly don't think there's any series that even comes close to its brilliance. It's a must-watch if you like the interplay of comedy, action, and family drama. Perfection!

(Cheng Shao Shang (Zhao Lu Si) is a young woman who was forced to grow up alone after most of her family had to leave to fight in a bloody war. As a result, she has grown up alone, in an unforgiving environment, and has become tough and resourceful - but also stubborn and untrusting. She finds it hard to see the good in people and assumes that everyone she meets is trying to get the better of her. She fends for herself in a town populated by people like her, who have been left behind by the war.

One day, a talented, powerful, and highly influential general named Ling Bu Yi (Leo Wu) comes to the town - and falls in love with her at first sight. He resolves to marry her, even though it will cause him no end of problems if he decides to pursue this union. She also warns him that she doesn't trust him and that her stubborn personality might not be suitable for the wife of a general. But Ling Bu Yi also has deep secrets, and there are facts about his true identity that even he does not know. Slowly, they begin to trust one another a little more - and start to investigate the truth about Ling Bu Yi's early childhood, family, and real identity...

This drama was based on a novel by the author Guan Xin Ze Luan. "Love Like the Galaxy" is a 2022 Chinese drama series that was directed by Fei Zhen Xiang.)

My Favourite Costume Drama!
dcemptor22 August 2022
From the superb acting, captivating storyline and over-all great production, I was in awe with this series! What I love the most about this show is the how the characters and story were presented. The main leads' love story is very refreshing for me because we got to see how each of them grew individually with their experiences and how their relationship evolved through time. It is also my first time to watch a show which involves a ruling monarch who doesn't have a bad blood between the Emperor, the Empress and the Consort. It has a total of 56 episodes but I wish it was longer (but they stayed true for the most part from the novel). If you're looking to watch a show with political, romance, family, friendship, and comedy genres, then give this show a go.

The BEST cdrama 2022!
shareen_shany5 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Loved Zhao Lusi! She is definitely my no.1 favourite actress! Loved her in "Who rules the world". She is an awesome actress! In each drama, she can integrate well with her male counter-part. She has great chemistry in all her drama so as this one.

Here she played the cold, distrustful, smart, playful Niao niao/Shaoshang. She was abandoned as an infant & she had to learn to defend herself constantly especially from her mom that repeatedly punish her corporal punishment way & belittle her instead of giving her love.

Niao niao father loves & adores her, always on her side.

Loved Niao niao third auntie, she is well-spoken, kind & thoughtful lady! She gives Niao niao attention & loves! She is married to Niao niao younger brother third uncle, who he adores his wife so much!

Niao niao mother is a hard woman! Almost hated her!

Both Niao niao & her mom are stubborn & seem heartless yet soft-hearted. But at a later stage her mom understands her & gives her the supports that she needed! Awesome!

Niao niao have 2 great brothers that love her though they separate when they were little. Buy they support her no matter what!

Shaoshang has a maidservant who is loyal & protects her. She is cute & sweet! Not a fan of Shaoshang Hates the grandmother, greedy old lady.

Leo wu plays General Li/Zisheng a cold, very firm man, who is chased by almost all women in the country. He is so compatible & have great chemistry with Zhao Lusi. Watched his drama in the "Long Ballad", there he looks so regal just as in this drama but there is no chemistry with the fenale lead Dilrabat. The drama is good but a little cartoonist & low budget. Watched it because of Leo Wu. In this drama, he may seems cold & distant but he is actually considerate & soft-hearted towards Shaoshang. He as a general humble himself infront of the woman he truly loves! He defended, protects & cares her deeply! He has 2 loyal side kicks, they are loyal, funny & tough! Not to forget the general black armoured arny, they are big, scary but cute especially when Shaoshang sneeks in the barrack! So hilarious!

When he lied to Shaoshang numerous times, it was such a sad scene. Her love for him is so deep that they reconciled afterwards, it was the best! Did hope for more like seeing their marriage in the capital.

The Emperor is a humorous man who loves Zisheng like his own biological son, always worries about him. They have great relationship together! He has 2 wives, a soft-spoken & docile empress, and consort Yue a firm & opinionated lady. Loved both of them! The empress treats Shaoshang likes her own biological daughter. They have an awesome, wonderful relationship. When the Empress dies, it was so so sad Shaoshang has a good relationship with Consort Yue too. She defended Shaoshang a few times!

There are some episodes that makes you cry, put a smile on your face, cool episodes, cute scenes & there are some episodes makes you laugh!

It's truly the best cdrama this year. Wonderful romance drama, great plot, Awesome casts! Totally recommended!

Would loved to see Zhao Lusi acts with Yang Yang & Leo Wu in modern drama.

Love Like the Galaxy is a Masterpiece
PugsleySmout9 September 2022
Definitely, this costume drama is the best drama I have seen so far. The story is great! Director Fei did an amazing job. In addition, I would like to thank the people responsible for selecting the cast for this drama. Both the male and female lead (Wu Lei and Zhao Lusi) did a fantastic job and was able to deliver the best of the characters they portray. The supporting actors and actresses also contributed significantly - it did not even make me feel that they are just support roles. The soundtrack is also perfect - everything about this drama is just done so well. I highly recommend this drama - if you love costume drama, you will LOVE this one. Great story; prepare to laugh and cry. I have been rewatching this drama; I missed the characters and I hope that Wu Lei and Zhao Lusi will have another chance to have another drama. I became a fan after watching. I hope they win the awards for best actor and actress; even best director. They deserve it 😊

Best Chinese drama of 2022
cameliasispir12 September 2022
In my opinion, this historical costume drama has it all: comedy, fighting scenes, childhood trauma, slow burning romance, beautiful cinematography, great OST and amazing cast. Every single actor suits the character portrayed in the novel. The evolution of main couple is extremely well done, from cold selfish untrustfull youth, these damaged souls learn to trust and love each other. Their microexpressions, the slightest look will change according to the plot. It may seem like a slow start the first 5 eps, but is necessary to build the background of the characters, so you can understand why / how their teens years shaped their mind.

It is an unusual drama, since both ML and FL are flawed, but this is what makes it unforgettable. Special thanks to Director Fei who researched and prepared each detail of the drama ( see youtube), and special kudos for actress Zhao Lusi and actor Wu Lei, both in their early 20's, for a magnificent performance that made our 2022 summer ungorgettable !

If you are looking for a comedy pill then this show is for you.
priyagoswami-944729 September 2022
Oh, its one of the best Chinese shows out there. Although it is more than 50 episodes show, you wont feel like Why I have started this show.

The chemistry between the lead pair is so subtle. Zhao Lusi is again delivering her good performance.

But specially the male lead - Leo Wu is doing a fantastic job. His subtle and serious expression and his indepth character is intriguing.

The story will capture you within first episode. It is light hearted show. With good humour, show will also provide you a good storyline and its execution.

Now talking about cinematography and VFX, this show is meeting our expectations.

All in all , a MUST WATCH Chinese Rom Com.

Best Chinese historical drama since Phoenixes!
vicknair-666569 September 2022
I compare all Chinese historical dramas to the Rise of Phoenixes, which I consider one of the best dramas ever done. This one actually competes well with Phoenixes!

The story, characters and casting are all great, and I shouldn't leave out the cinematography.

Zhao Lusi is spectacular as Shao Shang, the very outspoken heroine who holds her own in a male-centered universe. And Wu Lei as her main love interest is sometimes terrifyingly focused on revenge and killing. They do a believable job of convincing the viewers that their love is possible and real, but tragic in so many ways.

Other actors are well cast, too, and provide great performances.

All in all, a really good drama and well worth watching. I will say that the very last episodes dragged on a bit, but I was so involved in the story by then that I watched all.

Barely decent in the first half, but a complete disaster in the second half
ileenka12 September 2022
This is a corny and terrible drama that tried way too hard to slate the female lead as a revolutionary but victimized Mary Sue who is the perfect "heroine" in that era. The characterization of the female character is often times cringy, where an immature and selfish girl was lauded as "special", and everything that came out of her orifice was worshipped like gold. It was completely nonsensical as the chapters (in the novel) and episodes (in the drama) droned on. The male lead was written as the perfect, fantasy guy with almost no flaws whatsoever - even his most serious flaw was deliberately made endearing. The craft of the characterisations of these two mains are forced and I can't believe I actually wasted about 40 hours of my life (for 56 episodes) to watch this. This is just as bad as Twilight with Bella Swan and her fantasy guy Edward. And it blows my mind that so many people gush about this drama like it's the best thing in their lives as if they have never watched anything else before. The audience reactions really take me back to the days of Twilight when it took the world by storm.

Zhao Lusi and Wu Lei are hidden GEMS!!
marissareeka1 March 2023
I did not expect anything when I started watching "Love Like The Galaxy", but to my surprise the drama series got so many things to offer, and I still could not believe myself I finished watching it in just a few days.

What made me enjoy "Love Like The Galaxy" so much was the chemistry between Zhao Lusi and Wu Lei. Whenever I saw their moments on screen, I could not help myself from not admiring them. They looked absolutely attractive as well as lovely together.

This was my first time seeing Wu Lei in a drama series and I honestly think he's a terrific actor. He played his character flawlessly and I appreciate him for that. Pairing him with Zhao Lusi was such a perfect choice as they looked so good together on screen. We all know Zhao Lusi is the queen of chemistry as she always makes good chemistry with any actors she's been working with, and that was one of the reasons why I love her so much.

Last but not least, there were some certain episodes that I cried my eyes out, therefore I must give them big appreciation for their remarkable act. Well done, Zhao Lusi and Wu Lei for your hard work! Thumbs up!!

👍👍👍👍👍

Love like a Galaxy just Brilliant
vmanickum22 February 2023
Definitely the BEST Cdrama I have viewed in a while. From the main roles to every cast member put together brought a fantastic production. The leads Wu Lei and Zhao Lusi were excellent in every way possible. Every joy, pain sadness was felt through their performance. The director really knew what and how to get this great pair to bring out such beautiful acting.

I wish to see Wu Lei and Zhao Lusi in more drama's together because their on screen chemistry is so natural, almost impossible to deny. Well done to the best drama for 2022 and hope to see many more in years to come.

Just an add-on to the most loved characters in this drama, are the 2 loyal and faithful soldiers to General Ling and the Emperor. Wen. Great performance.

Worth a watch! Good cast, great chemistry, a complete package!
priyashashank793 June 2023
Loved the series! I started watching it for Zhao Luci, she was phenomenal, and I love it when the female lead is not shown as some meek girl, always needing to be rescued by the male lead. She showed from the first episode that she was too smart and calculating, even if it was too much for her own good. The male lead was played by Leo Wu, my first time watching him, but definitely not the last. He played his character well, it is actually not easy to play a character who doesn't smile often, but he could still portray a wide range of emotions. The chemistry between the leads was great, and I felt bad for the vice minister of justice, he was too handsome and devoted to the girl he loved, but still couldn't get together with her in the end. There were a lot of frustrating moments in the show, where you find yourself annoyed that the leads are staying apart, but the story was captivating and kept my interest throughout. The character of the king was my favourite, he livened up the scene whenever he appeared. I also loved the humour that was injected in the most serious war scenes. Overall, I'd say I like a series if it has a strong female lead, this series had it all, political plots, romance, action, melodrama, and a happy ending to make viewers happy!

A great watchable historical drama despite an unlikeable female lead
nirm-0902710 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This was a 58 episode drama divided nominally into 2 parts which are quite different so I'm going to review them separately.

Plot : What happens when two flawed people meet and fall in love?

Ling buyi ( Wu lei) is a young high ranking general from a powerful clan all of whom were extinguished by a violent act of betrayal. He is the emperor's adopted adored son, and the dream husband of every young lady in the city (of course). Despite this he's hell bent on avenging his family, cold, ruthless and not above being manipulative to fulfill his mission. Chen shaoshang is the daughter of a minor general who was abandoned by her parents to the mercies of her neglectful grandma since young. She grows up being bitter, petty , ignorant and self absorbed because of this.

Part 1 : This part is almost entirely focused on the family dynamics of Cheng shaoshang with her parents return home . Okay, we get that she was neglected by her family but the repetitive family scenes are almost obsessively focused on justifying to the viewers that she isn't to blame for why she is so unlikeable. However the strong supporting cast made for some hilarious scenes that are watchable.

However, this is at the expense of Ling Buyi's backstory, and the mystery surrounding Ling Buyi which I personally was intrigued by and which I consider unforgivable for a drama of this length. Leo wu stole the scenes he was in despite him being relegated to being Cheng Shaoshang's secret admirer for most of them.

Part 2: This is when the story really picks up, and Ling buyi's backstory and grey, sometimes manipulative character are revealed. Him being torn between his lifelong dedication to avenging his family and his love for Chenshao Shang, and Cheng Shaoshang trust issues and stubborn behavior results in some very stormy scenes. In the end, despite being torn apart and ALSO choosing to be apart ,they find that they cannot be without each other. This is Love.

Pros: Cinematography, storytelling, direction, background music and Wu lei's amazing performance as Ling buyi. Also the stellar supporting cast. The revenge scene of Ling Buyi in part 2 and the aftermath of it was really spectacular and cinematic. Truly edge of your seat stuff.

Cons: The Love story is honestly a bit unrelatable to me because Ling Buyi falls in love at first sight with the FL despite her unlikeable and stubborn character, and I felt that the drama was trying very hard to push the viewers to sympathize with the FL against the ML despite * SPOILER * him abandoning her in the end only to save her and her family from the repercussions of his own actions * I did not find this to be as unforgivable as it was portrayed to be and found the FL's stubborn refusal to forgive him exhausting and dramatic. However I get the premise of two flawed individuals.

Repetitive scenes with the FL family should have been edited out.

The ending and reconciliation were a bit rushed ( and it shouldn't have been for a drama of this length ) so they could've edited out most of the unnecessary scenes.

I feel they could've lengthened the story after the time lapse of 6 years to display how the characters have matured and are reconciled to each others flaws.

The lead actress was quite ok in part 1 playing a stubborn and willful girl but in part 2 she really failed to bring the subtle emotions of a grown woman who is still pining for her love despite also hating him. However I feel like Cheng Shao Shang would have been more palatable and relatably acted throughout the series.

I really recommend this drama for its great storytelling and chemistry despite its flaws. This was a young cast of actors and kudos to them for being able to act out a dramatic drama like this.

A ROLLER COASTER RIDE EXPERIENCE.
mczanef30 January 2024
All the cast definitely performed well!!! It exceeded my expectation. Initially, I watched it because of Zhao Lusi but I can't help but adore the other casts as well. They execute their roles awesomely. Most specially, the storyline is really good. It stands out, it's not just the typical c-drama with historical theme. It has its own flavor and it's really interesting to watch.

The angst between Niaoniao's and her mother's relationship always got me. They certainly displayed how mothers and daughters in reality usually be prideful to each other; that they could hurt each other just to prove their points and make the other person realize/feel what they lost.

Overall, I love this drama because it does not only highlight the romantic relationship between the two leads but the reality of how "family" treats each other when it comes to high and low situation.

DEFINITELY A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED SERIES. YOU WON'T REGRET WATCHING THIS.

This is the best royal C-drama I've seen so far!

The best royal colossal drama in my opinion so far!!

The scenario writing, cinematography, acting, costume and even other details are really beautiful. Even though it's very long up to 56 episodes, it's not boring!

This is the first time I've watched a colossal drama without skipping because the mix of comedy and suspense is just right in proportion!

I didn't expect to see this type of drama because previously I was not interested in Chinese dramas and only saw Korean dramas.

Zhao Lusi's 2nd drama that I saw after Who Rules The World, I saw her acting getting better and more beautiful in this drama. I really still remember her crying acting after being bullied by the princess.

Edit: this is one of my comfort drama now.

MUST WATCH

All the actors and actresses play very well, the storyline is very interesting, I watched it 5x, really a good drama. The shooting and visuals are also very good.

The costumes used are very good, the 2 main players provide amazing chemistry, the acting of leo wu and zhao lusi is very mesmerizing. I was really very carried away by the storyline.

Even though I've watched it 5 times but still not bored. I really like leo wu's acting in this drama. What an amazing actor.

Hope leo wu and zhao lusi will play in other dramas, everything in the drama love of galaxy is very mesmerizing. The best cast, interesting story and costumes.

And make up are very fitting.

Every time you see leo wu's gaze at zhao lusi makes you feel that in this world there is still love. Ling buyi is the standard. Truly a must watch drama.

It's been a very long time, I haven't watched a drama with an impact that makes it difficult to move on.

A Standout of Dramatic brilliance!
KuvioH19 September 2023
In the Chinese drama Love of the Galaxy, based on the novel by Guan Xin Ze, a remarkable, emotional plot portrayed with stunning cinematography, impressive sets, and finally a stellar cast bringing to life the intricacies of the characters. It's an outstanding display of brilliance in this historical Chinese drama.

A powerful general with secrets of his own, Lin Buyi(Wu Lei) has a lot to hide. His forever is found as soon as he sees the cynical Cheng Shaoshang (Zhao Lusi). Her trust, however, is distorted by her upbringing or lack thereof, which turns what should be an epic love story into a rollercoaster of plotting, misunderstandings, and poor communication, putting them both on a path of uncertainty.

Overall Love of the Galaxys compelling storyline is an exceptional display of when everything falls into place.

The standout performance for me was the character Emperor Wen, portrayed by Bao Jianfeng.

His performance was outstanding, witty, terrific timing, and the most loveable goof of the entire show.
