Boy does McKnight know how to end a series...
A_Different_Drummer23 June 2015
If you wish you can criticize this series. Perhaps you were put off by the casting changes. Perhaps you felt some episodes dragged. Perhaps there was too much girltalk.

Perhaps perhaps perhaps.

But what you cannot do is call the finale anything less than perfect. McKnight and his team have a gift for wrapping up a series as we saw in the original.

Thrill after thrill after thrill.

And just when you think it cannot get any better, Lucy Lawless suddenly puts on her Jason Voorhees look from Friday the 13th and for few minutes you are watching a horror film inside of a sword and sandal epic.

Perfect

Brutal

Only this series could get away with endless bloody action from start to finish while still sustaining the core principles of why it is all happening. In a cheap movie this would be seen as just a cheap attempt to grab attention whatever the plot. In Spartacus: Blood and Sand: Wrath of the Gods it is deserving as many key characters are slain for reasons known to anyone who has viewed season 2. We are treated to the ending of many more key characters than most series would offer with twists that surprise even if all alone we suspected as much.

Thumbs up. The director must show the cunning and strategic mind of Spartacus throughout Season 3 but I think we should also see the new addition of a split story line, based on current slaves to be released later, so that the viewer can be strongly reminded of the freedom being fought for.

Warning: Spoilers
SO this is the last episode of the Season 2 and this is how it all ends. The justice treats to everyone. Spartacus and few surviving people are trapped on top of the Vesuvius volcano. Cut off from food and supplies. Glaber and Ashur guards the entrance. This starts off with the death of Mira and Spartacus seeking revenge on her death. By the hands of Navia Ashur get killed and Spartacus plans on a suicide mission on flanking Glaber's troops. They climb down the volcano using ropes and use the Roman catapults to flank the roman troops. This leads Spartacus, Crixus, Ganicus and Agron to a face to face combat with Glaber and the troops. In this fight Doctore get killed by the Egyptian. At the end of the fight roman troops retreat to the temple and again Spartacus flanks the temple. Meanwhile Lucretia steels Ilithiyas new born son and jump off the cliff to suicide. After a huge fight Spartacus kills Glaber by sinking his sword down glabers throat. This ends the Stroy and WOW what an end to this amazing drama!! Nothing else to ask from the director. This is how it should end. 2 thumbs up!!

Trapped at Vesuvius!!!
elo-equipamentos30 September 2019
The final second season couldn't be better, Spartacus and his followers are trapped at Vesuvius's top without food and water, it will be matter of time to surrender, Glaber sends Ashur with ultimate offers, all them will get the pardon and become slavers again, already Spartacus will be sacrificed, offer promptly refused, Naevia challenge Ashur for a fight, woman vs. man, predicable ending, not quite, a brutal killing and revenge was made, Glaber received the expected answer on Arshur's head, At Vesuvius Spartacus has a bold plan, go down the mountain thru vine's rope in a big rocky wall that allowed to surprised the garrison at foothill that holds the path, a sudden attack strikes at Roman military camp, a successful outcome that will be balance of forces, extremely bloody episode, deserves to be watch in plentiful way!!!

Amazing finally

Warning: Spoilers
A fantastic ending to a great season but there is one thing i disliked allot.

This new Naevia is just been a pain in the guts. I liked the first Naevia allot but ut this one is just been to much... and her defeating Ashur(yes not the strongest gladiator) after just been training with Crixus for some weeks/months is just unheard off.

She was a body slave since very young age for years.. No fighting skills... and after she was sent to the mines where slaves are working day by by till they die.

And yet she manages to defeat an gladiator 1 v1 wich is ridicilous. Even tho Ashur was injured she shouldve been zero match to him.

I understand the recasting of Spartacus and in this episode he is very very good and makes me for the first time really appretiate his role as spartacus. Liam has a very hard role to fill and he is doing amazing so far.. but Naevia is just... mehhh.

Otherwise i feel actually abit sad for Ashur. Yes he is a thief, backstaber and a worm but he did his role very good and was very close to succeed. And if Glaber actually did lissen to him from start he might have won.. and when Glaber at the end started to take his advices he yet again decided to belive the lies of illytria and to go back to the bad advices she allways gives him wich cost him eventually his life.

Illytria has done nothing else then ruining Glaber. And she got what she deserved at the end.

Rip Oenomeus aswell. Great character.
