- Using every last bit of physical and mental strength, the castaways battle it out in the final immunity challenge to secure their spot at the final tribal council.
- Previously on 'Survivor': It's finale time, so we get the full rundown. Coach and Ozzy joined the group of players on Day 1, with each getting placed on one tribe. Coach's reception was chilly, but on the first night he won over the group that would eventually become his final five. He said they were ready "to die for each other." He then found a hidden immunity idol. His only concern was beating the Savaii tribe. After some back and forth, Savaii was down one player with the merge looming. Ozzy sent himself to Redemption Island, but Cochran's flip to the other tribe after the merge put Savaii down on numbers and they were picked off one by one. Ozzy has spent the entire second half of the game "stranded" on Redemption Island, which was nothing but good for him. His fishing skills have kept him nourished. During a reward visit to Redemption, Coach struck a deal with Ozzy, telling him he would take him to the final three -- "as a Christian man," Coach says, which means he really meant it. Cochran went home next, followed by Edna, leaving the original Upolu five. As they turned on each other, Brandon gave his immunity necklace to Albert, and was then voted out.
Now, Ozzy and Brandon will duel at Redemption Island, and one of them will rejoin the game.
Redemption Island: Brandon shows up and tells Ozzy about how he got blindsided by Coach, Sophie and Rick. He tells us he was "stabbed in the back by his closest friend." He then explains to Ozzy that he gave up the immunity necklace, which sends Ozzy into a testimonial rant (not to Brandon's face). He tells us that Brandon thinks he's playing a "loyal" game, but he's really playing a "blind faith" game. "He's playing the game like he's playing with God, and he's not. He's playing with human beings that are greedy and want that money," Ozzy tells us.
Back at camp: Sophie says Tribal was "crazy but it was fantastic." She also thinks Albert also showed himself to be a coward in front of the jury by not returning the immunity necklace to Brandon. Coach goes off on Albert at camp about how he can't stand being lied to and tells him he's going to be "cut off." Albert is worried about having to repair his relationship with his alliance or else he'll be in trouble.
Redemption Island: Brandon and Ozzy get the news that their next duel is the last before one of them goes back into the game.
They arrive for the duel. It's a simple challenge: Hold on to a pole for as long as you can. There are very narrow foot holds -- about a quarter-inch deep. After about 40 minutes, both guys start shuffling a bit. Brandon slides down the pole quite a bit before hanging on with just about four feet left. Soon enough, he slides all the way down and he's out of the game. Ozzy is back in.
Back at camp: Ozzy get congratulations from Rick, Sophie and Albert, but he knows and says that they don't really want him there. Coach pulls Ozzy aside and tells him he still wants to take him to the final three. Ozzy tells us he knows Coach doesn't really want to take him there.
Coach later tells us that his alignments in the game that he's not sure how to secure what he feels is a big lead. He thinks it's his game to lose.
Immunity challenge: While holding a balance board with one hand, the players have to build a house of cards with the other hand. The first player to build a stack to a certain mark wins immunity.
Sophie says she builds them for fun and has a book on how to do them. Sophie builds a strong-looking structure, but runs out of tiles.
Sophie loses her stack and asks Albert to help gather her tiles. Albert refuses, and Sophie yells at him to help her. Jeff makes it easy, telling all the players that there is no help allowed. He adds, "If you want Ozzy out of this game, beat him."
Soon enough, Ozzy -- who lost some of his tiles when they fell earlier in the challenge -- with a shaky hand places the last tile needed to win immunity. He punches the middle of his stack while Sophie and Coach, in particular, are extremely upset. Sophie says, "I should have won that."
Back at camp, Ozzy says he's loving the position he's in and says he's going to do his best to turn each of the alliance members against each other and, either way, he comes out fine.
Albert and Coach chat and think they need to get Rick out because the jury might find him likable.
Ozzy goes to talk to Albert about voting Sophie out, reminding him of how she acted like "a brat" at the challenge by demanding that Albert pick up her pieces. Albert is now thinking there's a good argument for both Rick or Sophie.
Rick and Coach go talk and Coach says he thinks Sophie is turning on Rick. Rick is suspicious of Coach's evasiveness.
Albert tries to talk Ozzy into voting for Rick, but Ozzy then tells Albert about how Coach gave him his word "as a Christian man" that he wanted to bring him to the end. Albert goes and asks Coach about this, and he's again evasive.
Tribal Council: Ozzy says he knew that if he didn't win, he'd be going home. Coach says his "hidden" idol is not so hidden anymore. He will play it tonight to get into the final four.
Albert says he should be kept because he's valuable and can compete with Ozzy. Sophie says she's a threat to beat Ozzy because she's won more immunity challenges than Rick, Albert and Coach. Rick says it's 90 percent likely that Ozzy will win immunity again, so he has to look at people who aren't going to beat him.
Coach talks about the "bond" his group made with each other and he says he still considers his whole group a family. Brandon, sitting on the jury, shows a shocked face at this news. And Ozzy pipes up with the revelation that Coach told him he wants to take him to the final, and Coach tells him, "Absolutely, man. Air it out, I don't care." Sophie says it's more than "old loyalties" that make her want Ozzy out of the game. She thinks he doesn't respect her. They air out how they both basically don't like each other.
She says that hearing that Ozzy called her a brat was "hurtful." She gets a little tearful when talking about how she's tried to keep her character intact and she doesn't like that Ozzy and "everybody" are calling her character into question. She tells Jeff she doesn't feel like she's developing a tougher skin, she's losing it. She says she regrets even having played the game if she's given the impression that she's selfish and spoiled.
Rick and Ozzy write down Sophie's name. Coach doesn't play his idol.
The vote: Rick, Sophie, Rick, Sophie, and the 16th person voted out is ... Rick. Coach stands up to hug Rick and Rick tells him to "have a seat."
Rick tells us afterward that he wishes he'd made a bigger move but blindly trusted Coach's whole loyalty thing. "Ozzy's got my vote," Rick says.
The next morning at camp, Ozzy gets up early and goes to cut down coconuts to nourish himself for the final immunity challenge. He doesn't plan on sharing any coconuts, either. Sophie, meanwhile, tells Coach she doesn't want Ozzy eating any of their plantains. He agrees. She says she's irritated by the fact that Ozzy is there at all.
Coach pulls Ozzy aside and says he was "mad" at first and now he's just "sad," because he thinks everything Ozzy has told him was a lie. Coach reminds Ozzy that he asked him not to tell anyone about their conversation, and he spilled it all at Tribal. Coach asks Ozzy what kind of game he's playing with him. Ozzy tells Coach he's been burned in this game by trusting people. He says he's been so guarded that he felt like he couldn't trust Coach. Coach tells us his "heart broke" for Ozzy when he heard this. He says everything changed and now he's trusting Ozzy again.
Ozzy tells Coach he wants Albert and Sophie to build a fire. Ozzy tells us this challenge is worth a million dollars and he's going to put everything he has into it.
Immunity challenge: They players have to race through an obstacle course to collect five bags of puzzle pieces, then put a puzzle together. The first one done wins immunity and is guaranteed a spot in the final Tribal Council.
Ozzy gets his first bag first, and is quickly followed by Albert and Sophie. Albert catches up with his second bag before Ozzy gets his, but Ozzy is right behind. Coach gets his second bag next. Ozzy gets his third bag before anyone else, and then gets his fourth bag, and his fifth bag.
Ozzy starts his puzzle with a "huge lead," as Jeff puts it. Coach then returns with his fifth bag and starts work on his puzzle.
Sophie suddenly jumps into a lead with the puzzle, getting three pieces in before Ozzy gets one. Ozzy catches up briefly, but Sophie jumps way out to a lead and wins immunity.
Albert and Coach stand next to each other with an arm around the other while Jeff tells Sophie she'll have a hand in voting the next person out to determine the final three.
Back at camp, Ozzy laments his loss and gets emotional about how everything he's put into the game came crashing down. Ozzy tells us he isn't giving up, and will believe Coach at his word, but "something" tells him Coach won't honor it. Then we hear in the background, Coach, Albert and Sophie cheering each other on.
Coach bestows the title of "dragon slayer" unto Sophie, telling her that Ozzy was the dragon and she slayed him. Sophie tells us that "being the one to beat Ozzy must be something I can hang my hat on coming into Tribal."
Sophie says she hopes it's not the case that Coach has a "closed-door" relationship with Ozzy that throws things into question at the last minute.
Ozzy gives Coach a big speech about how to determine which "warrior" he wants to send to the final. Ozzy essentially asks Coach to give him one last chance by putting him up against Albert to build a fire. Coach tells us he wishes the decision was easy.
Tribal Council: Sophie says it "feels amazing" to have immunity now. Ozzy replays that puzzle and how the pieces didn't come together. Coach says it's heart-breaking to know how close a true competitor like Ozzy came to winning. Ozzy brings up the fire-making challenge proposition.
Albert says he doesn't feel like he has a good chance against Ozzy in a fire-making challenge. He says all he can do is hope that his trust in Coach holds true.
Albert and Sophie write down Ozzy's name and Ozzy writes down Albert's. We don't see Coach's vote, obviously.
The vote: Ozzy, Albert, Ozzy, and the 17th person voted out is Ozzy.
Back at camp, Coach rejoices in having "an Ozzy-free camp." He says the decision was really a "no-brainer."
The final three partake in their ceremonial breakfast, but Sophie quickly tells Coach she thinks it should be one of them, but certainly not Albert. Coach vows he won't say anything negative about her.
Albert tells us he's confident because he played the best game of the three. He doesn't know Coach and Sophie are planning to make him out to look squirrelly.
Coach tells us he wants to have risen from the ashes to "become the ultimate victor in this game."
Final Tribal Council: Albert plays the humble guy in his opening statement. Sophie lays out her case, saying she played most facets of the game very well. Coach says he tried to lead with compassion, love, appreciation and respect.
Ozzy gets the first crack at the questioning. He says nobody wants to vote for any of them. He tells Sophie he still thinks she's a brat, Albert was "in the right place at the right time." He tells Coach he's giving him one chance to live up to his "honor" thing. He gets Coach to admit he broke his word at times. He says he played "most of the time honorably, but there were times when I was definitely dishonorable."
Jim asks Albert why Coach or Sophie shouldn't win. Albert says Coach didn't bring them there, but they brought him. He says Sophie didn't play a social game.
Dawn asks Sophie about why she aligned with Coach and Albert. Sophie says she loved Coach's loyalty, and she liked talking strategy with Albert. She says her relationship with Albert deteriorated to the point where she wanted to vote him out, but she kept him around because she felt he improved her chances of winning, in comparison to Rick.
Rick asks Coach if there's anything he wants to say to him. Coach simply says, "I apologize." Rick tells Albert that using "the God thing" on Brandon was "a bunch of bull." Albert wants to comment on that, but Rick won't let him. Rick then tells Sophie she lied her way through the whole game. She claims the biggest regret she has is lying to him.
Brandon first addresses Coach and instantly evokes his "man of God" line from the beginning of the game. Brandon asks Albert if he knew Brandon was going home that night. Albert tries to couch his response, but Brandon pushes him several times, cutting him off by asking, "Yes or no?" Albert finally says he did not know, and Brandon says, "You lie." And cuts him off again.
Whitney stands up and tells Albert he's "sleazy." She tells Coach he used Christianity to manipulate his whole tribe and put fear in them. She tells Sophie she's "the most condescending person" she's ever met. Sophie says she's tough to get to know, and she thinks it's a weakness.
Edna stands up and says "the most historic way to manipulate people" is through religion. She says every one of the final three duped everyone.
Keith asks Coach whether he was going to use the immunity idol for the team or for himself. Coach says he would have used it after the merge. Sophie pipes in and reveals the true discovery of the idol. Brandon looks shocked when she reveals that Brandon was out looking for an idol that was already found, and then they staged the discovery.
Cochran tells Coach that he actually likes how Coach tricked him so successfully, but he doesn't appreciate how Coach always talks about "honor," but that the word doesn't mean anything to him anymore. Coach says he tried and fell short of playing the way he did to the final. He says he's not a great strategist.
Cochran writes down Coach's name, saying that if he wipes away all the stuff about honor and integrity, Coach actually played the best game. Dawn votes for Sophie, saying she's excited for her because she's "going to have a million reasons to smile."
The vote: Coach, Sophie, Coach, Sophie, Coach, Sophie, Sophie, and the winner of "Survivor: South Pacific" is ... Sophie!
