- Joker has a nightmare of being confronted by the PTA President Debbie dressed as Batman, saying his lemon squares sucked and he's going to die. He wakes up from his nightmare, attached to his CPAP, and his stepwife Bethany asks if he had another Debbie nightmare. Joker admits that he did, and thinks Debbie may be his most challenging enemy.
The next morning, Joker takes his stepchildren Sophia and Benicio to school, and meets with Janice, the school receptionist. He asks for the list for the dual immersion Spanish program, and she reluctantly shows it to him. Debbie come in and says that her children got into the program, but Joker's children didn't. She boasts about her connection on the election board and wishes Joker better luck next year,
Barbara and Two-Face talk to Gordon about his exorbitant but useless campaign expenditures. Gordon's daughter assumes him that her father doesn't need gimmicks to win and he just needs to tell people what his plans for Gotham are and what he stands for. Barbara asks her father what he stands for, but Gordon just trails off. Two-Face assures Barbara that she'll teach Gordon how trail off like a pro.
That night, Joker is making supper and taking out his frustration on the meat. He tells Bethany what happened, and sees his stepchildren watching VTV with Gordon debating the comatose incumbent. The mayor dies on camera and at dinner, Benicio says that he doesn't want to stand out at school. Bethany wants to drive a tire iron into Debbie's head, but Joker assures her that he's cooking up something special for their archenemy.
The next morning, Joker gives Debbie some ethnic food and asks her to pull some strings to get his children into the immersion program. He says that it the old him that blew up buildings, and tells him that he should take it up with the mayor because the city sets the budget for the program.
Gordon and Two-Face celebrate the mayor's death, since it makes Gordon the only candidate. Barbara objects, and points out that Gordon still hasn't come up with a plan for Gotham. Joker apparently robs a nearby bank with his thugs. When the newscameras gather, Joker takes a hostage, points a gun at her head, and "shoots" a "Joker for Mayor" flag. He announces that he's running for mayor, and banners drop down and fireworks go off.
Joker robs banks and gives the money to the citizens, Joker talks about his plans for the city, including education reform and mental health care. His popularity goes up and Gordon, watching the newscast, tells Two-Face that it must be a trap. Barbara is with him, and says that people love Joker because he has good policies. Two-Face figures that they need to fight dirty, but Barbara disagrees and tells her father that she believes in him. and tells him to fire two-Face as his campaign manager. If he doesn't, she can't support him. Gordon refuses to fire Two-Face, and Barbara walks out.
During dinner, Joker watches the newscasts showing his new voters. Bethany turns off the TV and reminds everyone of Joker's rule of no TV at the dinner table so they could talk like a family. Joker would rather talk about his campaign, and passes on coming to Benicio's soccer game the next day. He says that the family comes after his campaign, and Bethany glares at him, and he hastily says they're first.
Joker holds a campaign parade, and Barbara is there holding up a support sign. Two-Face calls Joker and says he's abducted Benicio, and Joker should come to the abandoned amusement if he ever wants to see Benicio again. Once Two-Face hangs up, Joker looks at cheering supporters, then a photo of his family on his hone, and chooses his son.
Gordon arrives at the amusement park and Two-Face reveals that he has Benicio, and they can use him as leverage to make Joker drops out of the race. Otherwise, Two-Face will send Benicio on a one-way run on a closed-down roller coaster ride. Gordon tells Two-Face to stop his crime, and that he trusted him. He admits that he poisoned the prior mayor to clear the way for Gordon.
As Joker drives through Gotham in one of the parade vehicles, he calls Bethany and tells her to get Sophia to her sister's. He gets to the amusement park and Two-Face proposes his deal. Joker says that Gordon is child-killer and tells Two-Faced that he'll drop out, and gets in the car to cut Benicio free. He proudly says that he'll quit for his family, and apologizes to Benicio for being a douche. Two-Face looks them both in the car and says that Joker will always be a threat to him if he doesn't kill him, and he wants Gordon to be mayor so he can be DA again. Gordon knocks Two-Face out and tries to stop the car but it's on automatic so he takes the next one in pursuit.
The two cars pass each other, and Gordon leaps onto Joker's car. He pulls them free just as the car goes off the broken rails, and Joker is relived that Benicio is okay. They go back to the unconscious Two-Face and Gordon prepares to shoot eh villain dead. Joker tells Gordon not to, saying that no one else wants Two-Face dead more than him, but killing him won't solve the problem and just make things worse. He says that he just wants to be someone his father can be proud of him, and Benicio says that he's already proud of Joker. Gordon agrees and says that he's dropping out of the race, and they shake hands. Joker cheerfully says that he's going to dismantle the police force once he's mayor and Gordon is out of a job, then leaves with Benicio.
Two-Face regains consciousness and prepares to shoot Gordon. Bethany arrives and hits Two-Face with her van, and prepares to beat Two-Face to death. Joker stops her and says that they should go for tacos. Gordon calls Barbara and apologizes, and says that from now on it's only her.
Soon, ads up promotion the Joker as mayor with his slogan: "Like Joker Do!" Harley and Ivy return to Gotham from New Orleans, and are shocked to see what has happened in the four days they were gone.
Joker parks in Debbie's VIP spot, says that he's her nightmare now, and laughs maniacally.
