An Underwhelming Experience, With A Bit Of Home Made Horror Charm.
meddlecore23 December 2022
Christmas Craft Fair Massacre seems like a film that was conceived by a group of employees at an old folk's home, who then recruited a bunch of the old folks to act in it- as a group of satanists, who plan to use a Christmas craft fair, at the local high school, to find a "pure soul" they can "harvest", so as to unlock the gates of hell, and bring forth the "evil one".

Either that, or a couple of dudes who still live in their parents basement, recruited their parents to act in their film, because they have no budget or connections to get anyone else for the job.

Either way, the acting is laughingly poor...

But God bless them for trying.

And for going along with the ludicrous script.

Because the writing is just as bad as the acting, but that's what gives this attempt at making a home made horror it's charm.

To their credit, they do, at least, make an effort to incorporate some humourous one liners into the script.

But on sfx side, all the props are- quite literally- things purchased from Spirit Of Halloween.

With the main killer- who is being exploited by the satanists- being a guy in a blonde wig and Michael Myers mask.

Surprisingly, there is one inexplicable scene that features a ghost, which is actually done relatively competently (compared to everything else in the film, at least)...though, it doesn't seem to have any connection to the plot whatsoever.

This spirit- along with the astral projection of a native american medicine man- present themselves to the group of protagonists, which are made up of a priest; psychic crystal saleswoman; and a deadhead artist.

Whom are tasked with being "the light that will defeat the darkness".

A mission that will manifest itself in the form of saving a kind young woman from being sacrificed (by this rag tag group of wannabe satanists) to the dark lord.

Unfortunately, though, after being somewhat engaging, the ending ends up being incredibly anti-climactic.

But by that time it's over.

And you're kind of glad that it is, because the charm it had- from being such an amateur production- was starting to wear off anyways.

Sparing you from having to endure anymore of this underwhelming experience.

Just one or two bodies

Warning: Spoilers
Central High School in Houston was built upon an Indian Burial Ground. The principal, Mortimer Shade (Tytus Berry) plans on bringing back the dark lord by sacrificing a rare pure spirit which isn't hard to figure out who that would be, Julie Purebred (Rebecca Bills). In the meantime he kills people who might get in the way and others just for fun. Ned (Max Raven-director) helps Mortimer. He is the large school janitor who wears a Michael Myers mask. Megara Pendragon (Victoria Chaney) who runs the mall is in competition with Mortimer to find and sacrifice the pure soul. There are four people who can form a spiritual circle in order to prevent the dark lord from coming. They can do it remotely.

The film was low budget. The props and special effects were a joke. The acting and dialogue was extremely bad with Patrice Kleypas being the worst in the lot. Christopher Pena played our bearded Native American. The black chains when removed and dropped to the floor made a cheap plastic sound. Apparently they didn't have a sound editor. Ed Wood quality. Could be enjoyed for all the wrong reasons.

Guide: No swearing, sex, or nudity.

Warning: Spoilers
My wife has started doing craft shows selling dog bandanas. Check her work on Instagram. Over the last few months, we've been doing a lot of Christmas craft fairs. Other than the demons, I can say from a first-person perspective that Christmas Craft Fair Massacre is the most realistic and truthful movie about craft fairs ever committed to film. Or digital video.

Max Raven and Bando Glutz, well, in the words of Judith Priest, I can neither confirm nor deny that they are also Bret McCormick.

Houston's Central High School was built on a Native American burial ground - I live next to the second largest one in the eastern part of the country - which means it has lured devil worshippers there, like Principal Mortimer Shade (Tytus Berry), to find the one pure soul - Julie Purebred (Rebecca Bills) - with the help of the mask-wearing Ned (Max Raven). He's also struggling against the lady who runs the mall, Megara Pendragon (Victoria Chaney), who wants her soul as well.

So yes, this movie may feel like it's been shot on phones and has long talking sequences that were edited together to make it seem like everyone was in the same room. Who cares? It also has a priest, a shaman, someone who may be the director as well and a nice lady all work together to drop a telekinetic nuke on the craft fair, saving the world and our souls.

I have sat in these fairs and stared at the clock for what seems like days upon days and only ten minutes has moved and maybe I don't want to be there, but I really love my wife and will do anything for her. But if I could drop a mind bomb on the Monongahela Y before sitting there again for eight hours while someone next to me super hard sells fiberfill pillows and I've heard their lines hundreds of times, man, I would drop a bomb that would give Oppenheimer a boner from beyond the grave.

Every review that doesn't understand this movie was written a person without any holiday spirit.

So bad, it's amazing.

Is this movie good? Absolutely not! Is it a lot of fun to laugh at how bad it is? Absolutely!!!

Spirit Halloween gore effects, establishing shots that are obviously from Shutterstock, dialogue so bad it makes me wonder if the writer has ever heard people talk... these are just a few of the reasons this train wreck is so bad, yet so amazing. But the icing on the cake, is the acting. The acting is so bad... I mean so, so bad. So wooden, I was completely shocked when I discovered that the actors were not in fact, trees! Who knew? Long story short, watch it with your friends with your favorite adult beverages or herbal refreshments!
