As a child of divorced parents in the 1950's, I would have liked to see my mother or father, even, react with such demonstrative force! It was truly a present day dilemma and one that I relished as a child of marital catastrophe. The interplay of mother and daughter is so refreshing and uncommon at the same time. Our heroine, la mama, stays true to her purpose which is, I believe, to effectively excoriate the Papa. The children have already banished him since he is not always present. Do we really care if he had a girlfriend? I think not, we only care if la mama comes out of the closet and begins again.
