The ties that bind
movieman_kev5 September 2012
A hung-ho cop enlists her ex-boyfriend, who's now drug-addled, to take down a mafioso princess before she can take over the family business after her father is killed. Her daddy being the old guy who owned the shady nightclub in the "Angels and Demons" episode from Season 1 of the series.

One doesn't really need to watch the aforementioned episode to know what's going on and/or follow this one as the connection is tenacious at best. However that said I still recommend that episode as its amongst the best of the series. This one is certainly no slouch either as it feels more epic in scope than any other FF episode thus far. Well acted.

Confusing....

Warning: Spoilers
....and the confusion starts early on, when a "Previously, on Femme Fatales" segment replays scenes from the Season 1 episode "Angels & Demons", which leads you to believe that this one will be a continuation of that one. But the only thing they really have in common is the now-deceased character of the sleazy nightclub owner, whose daughter has taken over the "family business" (of drugs, gambling, prostitution....and murder when necessary). There is a lot of backstory between the characters which is vaguely hinted at but never shown to the viewer (except for a 30-second epilogue). But there are good points to this episode as well: the production values seem to be higher than usual, the music score is a nice homage to that of "Basic Instinct", Nikki Griffin is actually extremely convincing as a cold-hearted bi*ch, and Tara Radcliffe has a fantastic, toned body. ** out of 4.
