"The Sixth Sense" Meets "Road Trip"
zardoz-1323 February 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Hispanic helmer David Galán Galindo and scenarists Manuel Martínez March and José Lozano has dreamed up a hilarious ghost-on-the-road comedy that you'll want to watch again and again. A harmless motorist, Rapero (Mario Diaz), is cruising down a deserted road not long after nightfall. Standing in the middle of the two-lane road is a woman in white. When he stops to talk to her, she vanishes and rematerializes in the back seat of his automobile to his shock. She is intend on showing him the dangerous curve that claimed her life. Death has not been kind to the lady (Mariam Hernández) who cannot remember exactly where she met her demise. Galindo and his scribe wring every ounce of comedy that they can from the repetitious wrong places that the 'Chica de la curva' believes she was killed. Eventually, Rapero and she part company. The revelation that follows their departure and the open-ended ending cap this corker of a comedy. I saw this at the 2013 Magnolia Independent Film Festival in Starkville, Mississippi, at the Hollywood Premier Cinema.
