In a cartoon country in which characters from Mother Goose, fairy tales and Alice in Wonderland live together, two pointy-nosed figures in dark, ghostly robes snicker and encourage people to drive badly.
This driving safety cartoon was sponsored by Met Life. To me it seems a bit odd to use these childish images. Were small children to hector their parents into obeying the speed limit? However, that feeling may be because I grew up in the era when every driver's education class showed BLOOD ON THE ROAD.
The visuals of this cartoon are not topnotch. Character design is simple and while some of the background art is excellent with a water-color look to it, some is crude. Over all, this piece looks a bit ill-conceived and oddly executed, but like many early examples of a genre, this driver-safety cartoon should hold some interest for those with a more scholarly interest in film.
