Warning: Spoilers
I actually watched this episode back in 1988. I just had to wait 34 years to view the first three episodes.

So I always knew how it ended but not quite what it was all about.

Magnus wants to hold a mirror to Thorne. Show him just what kind of a person he really is. That means others give their opinions about Throne.

In the meantime Lord Maine is on the verge of taking over his company despite a rearguard action by the finance director to save it.

Thorne and Jenny discover that Magnus died some months earlier in the institution he was in. Maybe he faked his death and this game was long in the planning stage.

There was a showdown in a swimming pool, a lady in the lake and Magnus's revenge was not about being thrown out of the company. It was more personal than that.

Thorne had to atone for his past and save someone in the present.

David Fincher's The Game did it better in 1997 and of course it had a bigger budget.

When you see things like Escape Rooms in every town and city, you can see the series was a little ahead of its time.
