Sex & Nudity

  • First episode a man rapes a woman after overpowering her during a fight.
  • Various characters use sex to manipulate others. Very little of the sexual activity is marital and mostly just references with exception to a scene where a woman is raped.
  • In episode 7, an unclothed woman is seen from behind from head to foot for a very short period of time.
  • In episode 8 a couple has sex. There is some heavy breathing but the scene isn't graphic and doesn't last long. There is no nudity in this sequence.
  • There are some sexual references between couples like foreplay

Violence & Gore

  • Season 1
  • The violence in this show, while infrequent, is somewhat realistic. There is never any gore, but blood and blood splatter are shown. Dead bodies are occasionally seen.
  • In S1E9, "Safehouse", a man is shot in the back of the head, causing some blood splatter. Fairly Graphic.
  • There are no gunfights or extended fight sequences, violence mostly pertains to characters being killed by gunfire. The deaths are usually shakily-shot and not much can be made out aside from a very quick blood splatter. Corpses are sometimes seen for short periods of time, with blood usually being involved. Blood splatters are sometimes exaggerated and obviously fake.

Profanity

  • Two use of fuck in the s06e06!
  • Profanity is scarce but sometimes explicit.

  • Alcohol, drugs, and smoking is found throughout all episodes of this season.
  • Season 2

Frightening & Intense Scenes

  • RAPE TRIGGER WARNING: Season 1, Episode 1, 17:00. Short but graphic rape scene.
  • This show can be very dramatic and intense. Many audiences may find the violence and sexual content matter disturbing or uncomfortable. The show revolves around betrayal and deception.
  • The Americans is a drama series about two undercover KGB agents who are posing as a married couple living in USA. Their job is to gather classified information on American government projects using any methods possible. As the nature of their job intensifies and threatens to endanger the lives of their loved ones, the couple start to re-evaluate if they can continue with their jobs.
  • Alcohol and smoking are very frequently depicted, and violence is scarce but quite brutal. Some audiences may be put off by how expendable the human life seems to be considered by some characters.
