Parade's End Episode #4
dalydj-918-25517515 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is one that has changed me views on Sylvia with how she be a perfect fit for Christopher who for the last couple of weeks I have wanted him to be with Valentine. This was probably because we saw less of her this week and I think that was what the writer wanted us to feel that he has two choices to the love of his life. This week it was mainly set on the battleground when Christopher is starting to be affected by the atmosphere of the close spaces, loud explosions and the fact he has been away from his normal life of high class English style living. When Sylvia try's to visit Christopher it seems the whole army is against her being there until an old friend of Sylvia brings her to the field which gets him into some trouble with his higher officers. During this time we see scenes of Christopher looking for distractions all the while not knowing the biggest distraction is one the way. When the two get together it seems as if the two who have been previously shown as not really liking each other when they get together they really get together. Back in London it seems as if Valentine is worried if Sylvia will get to Christopher's mind and make him fall in love with her again. This episode was very enjoyable and the fact that this is the fourth episode means there is only one episode left which makes me wonder how they will end this miniseries (I have not red the book at all). Cumberbatch and Hall were very good this week because unlike previous weeks they gave more screen time to Hall who needed it to help me enjoy her performance more. Cumberbatch was just as great as every other week, Clemens was not seen as much but her character was still well and sweetly written.

EPISODE GRADE: A- (MVP: Benedict Cumberbatch)
