- Okabe is shocked to learn that Akihabara is now devoid of moe culture.
He questions Mayuri and Daru about Toranoana and other stores that used to be the city, but Mayuri insists that they never existed in Akiha to begin with. Okabe finds that even May Queen Nyan-Nyan has been replaced. He is awe by just how much one text message changed their world.

Suzuha is at the site of the Radio Building, gazing up at the satellite that crashed into it.
Meanwhile, Okabe and Daru are eating at the restaurant that replaced May Queen. Okabe finds out from Daru that in this world line, they met Faris through a Rai-Net tournament match.
Back at the lab with Mayuri, Ruka, Kurisu and Daru, Okabe reflects on the fact that, though the past has changed, the relationships between the lab members haven't.
While looking at a cosplay magazine with Ruka, Mayuri suggests that they should all plan a trip to the beach. Kurisu agree, but only if it's a girls-only trip. Okabe comments that--among other things--if it's for girls only, Ruka would be left out because he's a guy.
What he says shocks everyone. Ruka even starts to cry. The others start speaking despairingly of Okabe. Confused, Okabe insists that he's telling the truth. When Ruka tries to leave, Okabe grabs "him" and attempts to prove that he is right. Upon inspection, though, he quickly finds that he is wrong and that Ruka is, in fact, a girl. He is then promptly smacked by Kurisu with a book.
Later on, Okabe, noticeably in pain, makes his way outside, where he is greeted by Suzuha. He tells her that he has been tortured, which Suzuha takes seriously. He goes on to tell her, though, that Kurisu forced him to sit on his knees for an hour. Suzuha says that isn't really torture, apparently knowing so from experience.
Then, while both of them are relaxing on a nearby bench, Suzuha asks Okabe if he wants to go cycling. Okabe accepts her offer, which results in him doing all the biking. They stop to rest, at which point Suzuha tells him that she came to Tokyo to look for her father. She doesn't remember what he looks like, and her only clue for finding him is a pin he used to wear. She thinks her dad will be at a certain place the next day; if she misses that opportunity, she'll have to leave the city, saying that there's another place she needs to be.
Breaking the mood, Okabe-in mad scientist-mode-suddenly makes Suzuha Lab Member No. 008, and says she'll send a D-Mail to her father telling him not to leave. Suzuha laughs, saying that she feels better because of him. She then decides to head back to work, but not before Okabe tells her to come to the lab tomorrow, whether or not she finds her father.

Back at the lab, Okabe tells Mayuri, Kurisu, and Ruka about Operation Eldhrimnir. He explains that they'll throw Suzuha a party whether or not she finds her father. Mayuri asks about Daru, to which Okabe mentions he's at a meet-up with some online friends, and that he sent Daru a deceiving text message to get him to come to the party.
While they continue chatting, Okabe gets a text message from an unfamiliar address. The text reads: "I'm watching you;" the attached picture is red gelatin on a plate. This severely unnerves Okabe.

Okabe and Mayuri are walking home from the grocery store. Mayuri is worried about Okabe, recalling that he was acting weird when they shopping. She asks him about it, but Okabe casts her worries away with a fancy-sounded cellphone conversation about meat prices. Mayuri then notices a star in the sky, though Okabe says it's actually the planet Venus.
Mayuri asks Okabe if he remembers the bad fever he had when they were younger. He does remember; it was around when people were going crazy about the Y2K problem. Mayuri says, because she feared for his life, she wished upon a shooting star, which saved his life. Okabe retorts, saying that it was the choice of Steins Gate.
Mayuri then asks if he remembers what he said when he first got sick and collapsed; he said he felt dizzy, like he had been struck by lightning. Okabe wonders if that was when he received his Reading Steiner ability.
The two finally make it back to the lab, where Kurisu and Ruka have begun cooking. Kurisu, in particular, is making an apple pie. Mayuri joins the girls, and not to long after Daru arrives. He gets mad at Okabe after being told that his text was a lie, saying he skipped his time travel meet-up to come.
Meanwhile, Ruka finds Future Gadget #4: Moad Snake; a super-instant humidifier. Ruka accidentally sets it off, which fills the room with a thick fog that leaves everything wet. While cleaning up the mess, Kurisu finds what looks to be a vacuum cleaner. Revealed to be Future Gadget #5, they plug it into an outlet and turn it on, only to trip the circuit breaker and killing the lights.
While trying to move around in the darkness, Kurisu tells Okabe about her laboratory in America, and how she feels more at home in this lab. Okabe tells her that he made the lab because he wanted friends. Kurisu tells him that it worked, because she considers him to be a friend. During their conversation, someone turns the lights back on, revealing how close Okabe and Kurisu were to one another.
Later, after the food is finished, the lab members are waiting for Suzuha to arrive. Referencing how late it is, Okabe concludes that she's not coming and calls off the party. Afterward, while Okabe is waiting outside, he gets a text from Suzuha, telling him goodbye. Angered, Okabe runs around the city trying to find her, despite the heavy rain that starts to fall. While searching, he realizes that he can send a D-Mail to himself, so that he can follow Suzuha and prevent her from leaving. Though apprehensive at first because of the effects of the previous D-Mail, he decides to go through with it.

Okabe finds himself alone in the lab. Realizing that he's changed world lines, he runs outside to see what has change. Once there, he meets Suzuha, sitting on the bench. Okabe finds out from her that she came to the party the previous night, but they didn't send a D-Mail. He also discovers that Suzuha went to the time travel meeting Daru was going to, to look for her father (who goes by the name "Barrel Titor" online).
Suzuha tells Okabe how much fun she had at the party. Okabe invites her to stop by anytime, since she's a lab member.
Suzuha then tells him that she'll look for her dad a little longer.
