- The team takes on a sleazy music executive. Their plans are detoured when a bright and eager assistant starts. They change their plans to help the assistant unknowingly to uncover the truth.
- A music executive is also a crooked sexual harasser, and his young assistant and an IT tech she befriends team up to try to take him down. The Leverage team decides to covertly help "the civilians" and work behind the scenes to help without revealing themselves.—Gislef
- April Tom is being escorted out of the music office building where she works and assures the assistant, Carol Barsten, that she didn't mean to make any trouble for the CEO, Hank Hogan. Carol reminds April that she signed a NDA, and if she says what happened to anyone, she'll forfeit her severance pay. The head of security, Brimley, tells April that she'll need the money so she'd better keep quiet. He takes her laptop, and Carol tells him to wipe it while she finds April's replacement.
Jenna Monroe is among the applicants, and paces nervously as she rehearses her interview statement. Another woman runs out of Hogan's office, crying, and leaves. She runs into Hogan's office, and finds Hogan and Carol there. Carol says they didn't call Jenna in, and threatens to call security. Hogan tells her to talk before they call security, and Jenna says that she wants the chance to apply and she'll work hard for him. Jenna says she has no other life, is in doubt, and will work hard for him. Hogan hires her on the spot and tells Carol to send the other applicants home. Breanna is among the applicants, and tells the rest of the crew over her earbud that they might have a problem.
Later, Jenna comes to work and Eliot is working security at the front desk. She points out that he wasn't there when she came in for her interview, and he says that it's also his first day. Jenna goes up to Hogan's office and Carol gives her precise instructions on what to do for Hogan, and they have Jenna sign the NDA. She wants to read it in full, but Carol and Brimley glare at her and Jenna immediately signs it. Hogan calls Carol into help him, and he smirks at Jenna until Carol snaps her fingers at him.
Jenna goes about her business day, then finds a new appointment added to Hogan's calendar and downloaded to her computer. She calls Hogan about it, and he tells her to come into his office and fill him in, ignoring Carol's instructions to never go into his office. When Jenna comes in, Hogan tells her not to worry about Carol and a motion sensor alarm goes off in his office when it detects movement. Hogan turns off the alarm and invites Jenna to try out his executive putting green. Instead, she tells Hogan about the new appointment and how the person has the same name as a 'Doctor Who' character. Jenna wonders if someone is trying to get an appointment with Hogan under false pretenses, and nobody by that name works at the company the appointment is supposedly from. Hogan calls Carol in and tells her to cancel the new appointment. Sophie comes in since she's the appointee, overhears Hogan, and quickly leaves. Hogan congratulates Jenna and goes back into his office, and Carol snaps at Jenna about going into Hogan's office before following him.
Jenna finds an executable on her laptop, can't figure out what it or close it, and takes the laptop to IT. She runs into Parker working at a telephone juncture box and asks her where IT is. Parker quickly disappears when Jenna's back is briefly turned, and Jenna continues on looking for IT. She finds it and one of the techs, Keith, wearing headphones and singing. Jenna introduces herself and Keith confirms that her laptop belonged to Hogan's last assistant, and he used to be in charge of wiping them until Brimley took over. Most of the file is gibberish from Brimley's wipe attempt, but it has the names of Hogan's last assistants and what he did to them. Jenna has Keith pull the names and get the last assistant's address.
Jenna goes to see April at her home, and tells her that someone is trying to silence her. April lets Jenna in and says that she tried, and Hogan kept hitting on her. She kept notes on the previous assistants who quit or got fired, and one of them said she was contacting a local lawyer, Harry, but April never heard anything from him when she tried. April took the severance checks, and just wants to move on and forget what happened. Jenna talks about how something similar happened to her older sister, and her superiors dismissed her complaints as he said/she said. She offers to do the fighting for April, and just needs April to trust her. April agrees to help if Jenna can get more proof, and Jenna asks if she can borrow the severance check.
Jenna meets with Keith outside the building and tells him the check came from the wrong bank. They go to the new food truck as cover, and Jenna point out that severance check didn't come from the bank the company uses. Sophie quickly takes over from Eliot at the food truck, and listens in as Jenna talks about Hogan using illegal funds and she can use that to get the NDAs thrown out. Jenna talks to Keith about how Hogan uses his power to intimidate and abuse women.
In the back of the food truck, Eliot, Parker, and Sophie discuss what to do next. Sophie wants to use Jenna as a "civilian", Eliot disapproves. They review how Hogan has been using PIs, thugs, and the NDA to keep his former assistants quiet about sexual harassment. Sophie wants to help Jenna help the assistants.
Later, Kevin tries to hand off his report to Jenna, but he bungles the pass and the envelope with a flashdrive falls on the floor. Nobody notices, and Jenna picks it up and then she and Keith go on their way. In the envelope is a flashdrive with Keith's instructions to plug it into Carol's laptop. Jenna goes into Carol's office, where she's skyping/flirting with a man from Belgium, Hans. Carol hastily turns off her computer when Jenna comes in, and Jenna notices all the romance novels on Carol's shelves.
Jenna tells Carol that she got a memo about a possible security breach, and IT told her to put the flashdrive in every computer. Carol refuses at first, but then agrees when Jenna says she'll let IT know. Carol puts it in herself, and after Jenna leaves, Carol goes back to talking to Hans.
Jenna goes to IT and Keith tells her that he can access the calendar app and Hogan's computer through Carol's. Carol downloads another Hallmark movie, and Keith tells Jenna that Carol likes movies where a prince is living a secret life as a normal guy as a rancher or carpenter. She uses dating apps to look for guys with foreign accents who have work-class jobs. Brimley has detailed dossiers on everyone, and Hogan doesn't keep his financials on his computer. According to April, Hogan lets people who draw up contracts for him see his financials, people in his inner circle. Hogan had a showcase showdown because everyone got food poisoning, and Jenna figures that if she can find a new singer on short notice, she'll get close to Hogan and can see his financials. Keith gets an alert from the food truck, and he and Jenna go there to get lunch, and Jenna wonders at the timing.
Breanna is working the food truck, and takes their order. She sings as she prepares the order, and Jenna notices. When Jenna notices, Breanna claims that she's singing part-time at performance space nearby and is glad to have Jenna come by along with a music exec. Jenna then calls Hogan and says that she has a solution for him, and someone he should hear sing. Hogan tells Jenna that he likes her initiative. After she hangs up and tells Keith the news, and says that she'll be careful.
That night at the bar, people the crew has brought in are singing. Hogan and Jenna are there, and Hogan isn't impressed with the singers. He flirts with Jenna, and Breanna comes on and starts singing. Hogan is impressed, and after Breanna is done, Hogan goes up and compliments her. Sophie is posing as Breanna's manager and the bar owner, and Jenna vaguely remember Sophie from the food truck. Sophie says that Jenna is wrong, and Breanna claims that the woman at the food truck looks a lot like her manager. Hogan tells Jenna to get some paperwork and the negotiation is above her level.
Outside in the courtyard, Jenna calls Keith and tells her that the manager and food truck lady look the same. Keith figures she's under too much pressure, and Jenna hangs up when Hogan comes out and tells her that he's negotiated to use the bar as his new venue and Breanna as his new singer. Jenna asks if she can be there when he draws up the contracts. Hogan says that he likes her eagerness and hits on Jenna, and asks her how far she's willing to go to get into the big game.
Hogan starts rambling incoherently from the roofie Parker crew slipped him in his drink. Sophie and Breanna come out, and Sophie escorts Hogan to a nearby chair. He acts drunk, and Sophie has Breanna get him a cab. Jenna didn't think Hogan had that much to drink. Sophie tells Jenna that she's a lot of potential in her, and looks forward to seeing how she accomplishes her next big job, and says that they'll be watching.
The next day, Jenna is talking to Hogan's ex-wife Sylvia and says that Hogan isn't in. Afterward, Hogan approaches Jenna, calls Carol over, and tells the latter to start processing contracts for Breanna and the bar for their next venue. He tells Carol that Jenna found the singer and the venue. Once Hogan leaves, Carol tells Jenna that she knows she's trying worm her way up in the company without paying her dues, while she spent five years waiting to be invited to a contract meeting. Carol says Jenna won't get to do management work as long as she's around, and that she's not to go into Hogan's office.
Keith calls Jenna and asks how it went, and they hear a click on the line. The IT guy says that he saw Parker again working on the phone lines. Jenna says that she can't get near the finance documents as long as Carol is around, and Keith says that he just can't make Carol disappear... as there's another click on the line.
Carol is in her office and gets an invite from Hans to have coffee. Grabbing her coat, Coal leaves. Meanwhile Hogan needs to start the contracts and tells Jenna to help since he can't find Carol. He opens a hidden safe, and Jenna takes a photo of it with her phone. He says that Sophie wants the paperwork done that morning, and Jenna as the number two on Breanna. Hogan tosses Jenna a standard contract from the safe and turns off the motion sensor, but it comes on again on its own. Hogan turns it off again and tells her to learn to get along with people like him. The sensor comes on again, on its own, and he turns it off again, fondles Jenna's leg, and suggests they have a drink. Parker barges in, saying she's from Maintenance and got a call about some flicking lights. The lights start flickering and Parker turns on her drill, aggravating Hogan's hangover. Hogan goes to get some black coffee and tells Jenna to start working on the contracts.
Jenna tries to leave, but Brimley intercepts her and tells her that no documents ever leave the company office. She says that she was taking them to IT to have them scanned, and Hogan comes back and asks if Sylvia is there. She isn't, and when Brimley tells him that Jenna was taking the documents, Hogan doesn't care and tells the security chief to let her. Once he goes to find a dark room, Jenna leaves and Brimley calls one of his men and tells him to keep an eye on Jenna.
In IT, Jenna tells Keith that the contracts show that Hogan is skimming. Keith points out that if they can get Hogan arrested for financial crimes, they'll take him off the street, but they'll need more than forms. She figures that all of the evidence is in the safe, and wonders how she'll get in there alone... just as the building fire alarm goes off.
Keith confirms that it's not a false alarm, but no fire or smoke has been detected. Jenna figures it's her chance to break into the safe, and tells Keith to hack Hogan's emails because he probably keeps the combination there. She says that she's counting on him, and Keith gives her some earbuds that he rigged up.
Hogan and Briley go outside with the employee, and Brimley asks where Jenna is, and that he can't find Carol.
Carol is at the coffee ship with "Hans", who is Harry in disguise posing as a Belgium duke posing as a lumberjack. Meanwhile, Brimley calls his people on the walkie and tells them to find Jenna and bring her to him. One of them finds Jenna, but Eliot takes him out before Jenna sees him. Eliot takes out two more guards, and Keith tells Jenna that he hasn't found the combination yet.
Brimley tries to call Carol. Harry tries to stop Carol, who says that she knows that he's a secret Belgium prince. She assures him that his secret is safe with her, and asks him to tell her about Belgium.
Jenna breaks into Hogan's office, while Eliot takes out Brimley and two more guards. Going through Hogan's desk, Jenna finds nothing. A video of Parker explaining how to open similar safes comes in on his feed, and Keith sends the video to Jenna, who uses it to open the safe. Meanwhile, Harry keeps talking to a fascinated Carol about Belgium. She gets a call about the fire alarm, and tells Harry to stay there waiting her return. A waitress comes over and expresses her fascination with Harry.
The fire alarm turns off, and Keith tells Jenna that people are coming back in. She goes to the door to look out, and Parker drops in through the roof and opens the safe. Meanwhile, Jenna has Keith call Sylvia with Hogan's phone number, and Sylvia calls her ex. Hogan tries to convince Sylvia that he's going to send her the alimony. Meanwhile, Jenna comes back in the office and finds the safe open, and figures she did it. She gets the papers, which show the LLC Hogan is using to launder his money.
Carol comes in and Jenna tells her that she's realized Carol was trying to keep her safe, which means that Carol still has a conscience and she knows the people Hogan hurt deserve justice. Carol burst into laughter and tells Jenna to grow up, and she didn't want to clean up another of Hogan's messes. Hogan comes in, and Carol tells him that she found Jenna stealing documents from the safe. Hogan says that they'll handle it themselves because he can't find Brimley.
Keith tells Jenna to have Carol look at the LLC papers, because Carol's name is on them. Jenna gives them to Carol, who is shocked that her name is on everything. When Jenna says that Hogan was pinning his crime on Carol, the police come in and Carol says that it was all Hogan. Carol says that she can prove Hogan is an embezzler and a sexual harasser, and she kept her own notes. Hogan says that Carol is also guilty, and the police say that they were just there to investigate the fire alarm but they'll have to follow up on their mutual accusations.
The police take Hank and Carol off, while Jenna gloats and Keith joins her. He tells the police that Hogan kept video of him harassing his assistants, and gives them to the police. As the police take the couple away, Jenna and Keith fist bump.
Later, Jenna and Keith pack up, and they meet with April. Hogan is out on bail, and April can tell her story without fear of the NDAs. They're not concerned about losing their jobs, and April tells them that a lot of people owe them so much. Once April hugs them and goes, Jenna and Keith figure they got really lucky. They walk away past the crew at the food truck. Meanwhile, Jenna tells Keith that she found a card for Leverage International in her things as she packed. She suggests that they call them, and tells Keith that they make a pretty good team.
