Oh dear. Misfits peaked at S1 Episode 2. Nathan's comic relief was starting to really wear thin by the end of S2. I was glad he left - only for one smutty character to be replaced with another.

None of the characters particularly progress. Kelly is a waste of space. She is funny for literally the first episode alone. There's an element of intrigue in the first season, the second season is mediocre.

The power swaps could have been really interesting. Like the episode involving Curtis when he's gender bending. That's a peak and yet could have been handled better and in a more interesting way.

The powers are just a strange bolt-on to this show. Which is a bit of a shame as the device leaves lots of room for great original story telling and thought provoking sci-fi. Kelly as a case in point. She never uses her mind reading power for real effect and her best use of her later power is explained when she is off-screen. Alisha's original power is odd and her trade up could have led to hilarious Being John Malcovich style stories. Her second power is used to see through the eyes of a woman in a coma. What? Nothing else.

None of the main characters up until S4 are likeable. With the possible exception of the probation workers.

We get a 'power' dealer. Why would you even do this for money given that you could just team up with someone and use the power to obtain infinite wealth?

The artful nature of the first season is later abandoned. The world gets smaller. They should have dumped the community centre.

It's as if they were going to wrap the whole thing up at the end of Season 3 with its bookended story. Only for the show to return. I was glad to see them shake off most of the cast as the characters were very stale at this point. But I'm not so sure they'll swap them out for anything better. Even a shake up of powers could have given the show some new life.

This episode could have been an interesting take on the bonds of love. They pump up the metaphors all for why? We get some insipid side story just for more knob gags.

What a wasted opportunity.
