- Opens with Tara at Sookie's throat. Sookie screams for Lafayette, who is quickly tossed aside by Tara, his cousin. Tara then bites Sookie in the neck and Pam (Tara's "maker") finally steps in and commands Tara not to bite them and then tells her to stay in Sookie's house. Pam heals Sookie's neck with her blood and then leaves.
Tara is inside Sookie's kitchen and begins to tear it apart. Sookie tells Lafayette to grab her. Unsure how, she mentions there is True Blood in the cupboard. He walks slowly to retrieve it, and sets it in front of her. Sookie tells Tara she's got to eat, but in a flash Tara throws Lafayette down to the ground and pops out her fangs. He calls for Sookie, and Tara starts to hit herself in the head- knowing something isn't right. In vampire speed, she leaves the kitchen and runs upstairs, where she begins to destroy more property.
Bill, Eric and Nora meet with an Authority representative who takes them into an unknown underground facility. Once they are processed, each is locked into separate cells.
The pack finishes feeding on Marcus. They aren't thrilled Alcide won't obey the laws of the pack and feed on the former pack master. Alcide says he has no interest in being the new pack master.
Terry is acting strangely. At one point, a sleeping Arlene wakes up to see Terry standing at the edge of the bed and having what appears to be a sleepwalking nightmare where he relives one of his tours. Arlene reaches for him, but he doesn't wake up. Instead, he grabs her roughly by one wrist. She uses her free hand to snap him out of it with a slap. He mumbles something about being tired and crawls into bed beside her without acknowledging what happened.
Sookie and Lafayette are trying to get Tara to drink True Blood, but it isn't going well. She jumps on top of Lafayette, then runs upstairs and starts running around.
Pam returns to Fangtasia, where Ginger asks where she has been, and complains she had to open alone. Pam is concerned about whether Eric has returned or called- and finds out he has not. While applying her lipstick, she then has a flashback to San Francisco 1905. In her memory, she is sitting in a bar of a brothel -- her brothel. One of her girls walks up and Pam gives her a bump of cocaine. After asking where another girl is, she walks upstairs to find the woman she's looking for lying on her bed nude, dead and bloody. As the flashback ends, Pam lifts her cell phone to call Eric. Receiving no answer, she leaves a voicemail message.
Nora, Bill and Eric are in holding cells. They are asked about Nora, and after the guys lie about her helping them painful UV lights are turned on, burning their skin.
Luna brings Sam back to her place. Martha shows up and Luna basically tells her to get lost. Martha tells her that eventually Emma will become a wolf and need a pack, but Luna isn't so sure. Martha apologizes to Sam for his injuries. After Martha leaves Luna and Sam get in a fight and he leaves.
With the sun due to rise soon, Sookie and Lafayette trick Tara into feeding on Lafayette and while she's distracted, they are able to get her secured with silver and into Eric's basement vampire cubby.
Andy talks to Jason about relationships as they approach an abandoned car which turns out to be Debbie's. Andy finds some V in the car. After thinking about putting it in his pocket, he gives it to Jason.
Sookie shops for something to help her keep Tara secure. She looks at an anti-vampire mist.
In the kitchen at Merlotte's, Terry has yet another flashback and accidentally shoves Arlene while still in a daze. She thinks it has to do with Patrick and he storms off.
Sookie comes home and telepathically hears Lafayette thoughts about staking Tara, and rushes down into the cubby to find him on the verge of doing the deed. She reminds him that Jessica was strange when first turned and convinces him that Tara will be able to find some kind of life as the person she used to be.
Jason watches a TV interview of Newlin talking about his full-circle conversion about vampires. Andy makes the speeding ticket for the judge's son go away. A kid walks into the station and punches Jason in the face. He says that Jason slept with his mother and now his parents are getting a divorce.
Back in 1905, a horse-drawn carriage rolls by at night. But we see Pam walking alone down a street and a mugger begins to follow her. As he holds a knife to her face/throat and she cries out, Eric swoops in at vampire speed and slices his neck. As he gingerly licks the blood off of his fingers, he notices that Pam is not afraid of him. He asks her why that is the case. Pam replies that she has seen plenty of dead bodies. Eric is smitten with her, commenting on her lovely dress and approaches her somewhat apologetically to give her some money for the mess he made. She simply says "Thank you, Mister", before he speeds away. In the present day, Pam awakens in her coffin.
Bill and Eric are interrogated separately by Authority members; Bill's interrogator is Dieter Braun and Eric is interrogated by Salomé. Dieter talks to Bill about the Original Testament (a.k.a. Vampire Bible- the sacred text of the Vampire religion and chronicles the creation of the universe, and all life in it) and the story of Lilith, known as the Progenitor, who was created by God in His image prior to Adam and Eve, who were essentially her food. Bill says he does not believe in the literal interpretation of the text. He has silver-infused fluid intravenously injected into his blood, burning him from within. Eric is asked about Nora's involvement. He doesn't rat her out and is tortured with the same IV mix. The questioners attempts to play Bill and Eric off of one another, saying the other has been freed after cooperating. It doesn't work.
Newlin drops by Jessica's place and offers $10,000 for her to give him Jason. She gets him up to $20,000 before saying she doesn't sell her friends and telling him to get lost. She reminds Newlin that Bill, her maker, is the King, and Newlin laughingly replies that won't be the case for much longer.
Arlene pays Patrick a visit and tells him about Terry's nightmares. She asks if something happened that might have stuck with him. He says no. Terry stops by and Arlene leaves. After she leaves Terry tells Patrick that the fire-starting private isn't dead, just "off the grid." Terry knows where he is and the two agree to pay him a visit.
At Maxine's house Hoyt is under the sink fixing it. Jason shows up and tries to speak to Hoyt, but Hoyt still won't talk to him. Jason says that instead of living with his mom, Hoyt can stay at his house, and Jason offers to stay at Sookie's. Hoyt doesn't want any part of Jason's friendship anymore and kicks him out. On the way out, Maxine pretends to be mad at Jason, but at the door, she whispers a thank you for splitting up Hoyt and Jessica and tells Jason she will even make him a pie.
Luna hears noises in Emma's room. She opens the door and finds she's turned into a wolf pup.
Night falls and Tara emerges from her cubby and inches closer to Lafayette and Sookie. When Sookie says, "Tara", Tara looks at her and says "I will never forgive either of you." She bolts from the front door and is sprayed with the silver liquid before disappearing into the night.
Eric and Bill are led into a room with the Authority. Roman enters from a side door. Before speaking to them, he holds a type of communion with blood that he takes from his own wrist to symbolize that of Lilith's. One by one, he drops a bit blood into the mouths of each member. After the ceremony, Roman turns to Bill and Eric, stating he hates to meet under these circumstances. Nora is pulled out of the room, and Eric shows he wants to help her, yet he is bound and cannot. She yells out "I am innocent", before disappearing. Roman sits and starts to discuss of the errors they have made: The launcher used on main street, the fight breaking out between vampires and humans during the Festival of Tolerance. He tells them that they are the Authority, just as Nan was. He then tells them they will see the True Death. Roman also asks about the Sanguinista movement. Bill says he knows nothing about it, and Eric says he tries to stay out of politics.
The Authority has a meeting before them, and after a short debate they conclude that Bill and Eric should meet the True Death. Roman says that mainstreaming is the only way to live, that they must co-exist with humans. Salome opens a briefcase and pulls out a stake for Roman. Bill speaks up when asked if they have any final words. He says he will offer up an exchange, "Our lives in return for Russell Edgington." Roman was told by Nan that Russell was dead but Bill assured him that Eric and he put him in the ground but did not kill him. Eric states that Russell has broken free. Whether they live or die, the Authority will find out soon enough. Bill says that Russell will obliterate the Authority's cause. Roman, in vampire speed stands behind Bill with a stake, angry that he allowed the happenings with Russell. Eric yells out, "quiet!", and that he was the one who did it. Roman is mad that Bill, a king, allowed it. Roman pulls back and says he cannot go on personal desires. Bill states that Russell will stop at nothing to kill Eric and Bill, and when he does, Roman will be there to put an end to him as they should have. If Bill and Eric fail in their mission, Russell will make them meet the True Death anyway. Roman considers this.
Elsewhere, a single camera shot follows a trail of dead and dismembered bodies... and at the end is Russell, still weakened and dessicated from his imprisonment in cement, lying in a bed. His flesh is drawn and cracked, but his eyes open as he licks fresh blood from his lips, healing.
