Nica Noelle's LESBIAN HITCHHIKER is the first edition of what became a popular series, successful enough that Nica even pulled a Letterman, reviving the concept as HITCHHIKING LESBIANS after she jumped ship from Sweetheart Video to her new label Girl Candy (recall big Dave's tumultuous split from NBC to happy new home at CBS, taking his Steve Allen-derived gimmicks with him).
Noelle's brainstorm, a variation of which co-exists in the ROAD QUEEN series at competing Girlfriends Films, is to take the lesbian dramas out on the road. Premise is that in the sticks a pair of horny MILF-age lesbians can only find fresh blood out doing a Kerouac, and found by drive-bys, not having access to popular lezzie watering holes like their sisters in the Big City at which to troll for kids.
The two victims of these predatory babes are lookalike blonde beauties Lexie Belle and Nicole Ray, a true Nica casting coup. The mix and match couplings here provide for an economical cast -basically four players covering the two age ranges, plus the briefest of cameos (with credit, oddly enough) by Sinn Sage as "one that got away" when Melissa Monet passes SS up thumb tripping at the side of the road.
In this series the title is singular rather than plural, which I deduce is because the girls hitch singly rather than in pairs or groups. At any rate the four sex scenes are satisfying, with perhaps the best two involving contemporaries making love: Lexi and Nicole perfectly matched and as interchangeable as one of those lesbian twins incest outings, or the reconciliation hump uniting oldie but goodies Debi Diamond and Monet. Barely recognizable, Diamond is especially a pleasure to see since her career heyday was so many years earlier - first film dating from 1983. Monet is given a character role and has since become a prominent writer and director in her own right, following in Nica's footsteps.
Nicole downplays the kidnapping/imprisonment subplot, almost as if she did a quick rewrite sometime during the shoot (this one stretched out for about a month's schedule instead of the typical two days-wonder Nica has made her specialty). Instead we have a dramatic, satisfying sex film, brightened by the realistic (and at times awkward) scenes on location of the gals making love on the front or back seat of a cramped auto.
