Surprisingly well written
joshuacarlbrucks25 September 2023
I was expecting a surge in quality considering this is the season finale, but I didn't expect a scientific concept this cool. The plot, the stakes, everything is great. Even the pacing, which has struggled a bit in this latest season. The humor was a little odd, but that's been the norm for this season. The ending was fantastic, the solution was perfect, the animation was stellar, it's the closest thing we've gotten to a classic so far. It's one of only three or four good episodes we've gotten in the Hulu reboot.

This is a wonderful season finale, I just wish the rest of the season lived up to this one.

NOW they're back!
perrodetokio-7598026 September 2023
After 9 so-so episodes (some even bad ones) I REALLY enjoyed an episoded.

To me it felt like classic Futurama. It did not feel rushed, nor filled with slap-tick comedy like other episodes in the season. Neither did it feel like those episodes qhere they try to cramp lot's of character for no reason, just like saying "Hey! Remember this quirky character from past episoes?"

It was stripped down and it had a nice pace. Not rushed, not too slow either. It deels like they shook the rust off and this time they delivered what we (I, at least) were expecting from a new season after being (yet againd) cancelled.

Just in time too! Since they're already in the middle of season 11, with only 10 episodes left!

So glad this one is at 8/10

Only 5 min into this and i already knew it was my favorite episode of the season.

Not not just bc this season was very late simpsons vibes but it's a really good ep comapred to earl ones too.

The way they handled the simulation felt very new and real and not dumbed down and is exactly what futurama does at its best.

This episode was credited to David X Cohen, idk if he just worked on this episode or the whole season, i assume the latter, but boy the other episodes were so mid i almost refuse to believe he was writing on them.

Oh well overall was this the best season of futurama? No way, was it the worst? Maybe. But it exists and i'm grateful for that. I also liked the first ep too!

Up there with the classics!
jamstan-1468625 September 2023
This is not only the best episode in the season but I would argue that it's up with some of the best episodes. It's not up to the level of The Late Phillip J Fry but it's also higher than an average fox episode.

The writing was amazing, not surprising since David X Cohen wrote it. He honestly needs to write more episodes, he gets the world and characters more than anyone else. It was funny and it had an amazing story.

The plot of the episode was just classic Futurama. Taking the theory of our world being a simulation and creating a story out of it is what Futurama excels at. Please do more Sci-Fi stories!

I can't wait for the next season! I'm sad I will have to wait a while but hopefully this episode is a good indication of what to expect!

This is the episode we have been waiting for!
orilovinger25 September 2023
The 11th season was Ok so far, with overall 2-3 good episodes and the rest was mostly mediocre.

But this episode was for sure the best one of the season, and probably one of my favorites in the series. (And it was especially great after the last episode which was... not that good, to say the least.)

The writing was great, the story had a cool scientific premise which didn't referred too much to too much trends from the last year or so (like some other episodes this season had done).

The ending was amazing visually and included a very sweet Fry and Leela moment.

Can't wait for season 12!!!!

Fantastic!
TabalugaDragon26 September 2023
I'll be honest, I wasn't thrittled with most of the episodes of the reboot, in fact I found them very disappointing. But heck this one delivered! The animation quality, the pacing, the voice acting, story, music - everyting was top notch like during the first seasons of Futurama. THIS is the show I wanted back!

Characters fully(well, mostly) feel like themselves, the story was finally interesting and engaging, while dealing with the question many of us ask ourselves today.

I also liked how no clear answer was given whether our world is a simulation or not, because it does remain a mystery. Creators of Futurama proved they still have some steam left and it really makes me happy.

Looking forward to the next season!

Amazing episode - Everything I Watch Futurama For
bhartman3626 September 2023
This episode had lots of great humor, a real feel for the relationships between the characters, a weighty scientific concept, and a plot that could support it all without missing a beat.

Going into this after "The Prince and the Product", I was really worried. I was afraid it was going to simply be phoned in.

It wasn't.

Everyone is given something to do, the plot makes sense, the writers don't talk down to the audience, and it's got a timeless quality that some of the more topical episodes this season have lacked. Fifty years from now, jokes about COVID or Bitcoin probably won't be understood by anyone, but this episode will still stand up.

A finale that is compelling but also confusing and somewhat convoluted
ddempseylewis25 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
As the show once again undergoes a season finale, it uses the last episode in the season lineup to deliver something compelling and emotional but with somewhat mixed results. It once again follows Bender undergoing and existential crisis but this time it's over whether he is real or artificial. The episode delivers an important message that we should not worry about if our lives are real or fake. All that matters is that we should make our lives fulfilling and meaningful.

With that aisle I have some negatives to say about the episode. It overuses Zoidberg abuse jokes and has too much toilet humor. There are basically around 7 jokes done at Zoidberg's expense within the first 5 minutes of the episode. I don't understand why the writers like to use Zoidberg as a punching bag so much this season but right now it has become very mean spirited and the writers really have to stop using these kinds of jokes because they have become stale. The toilet humor does not help either as it gets to the point of becoming very disgusting.

Since this is the conclusion of a broadcast season that was basically hit and Miss for reception and quality, the writers really have to get a grip on the next broadcast season for the show. They need to stop cramming in political and cultural trends and they need to stop trying so hard at making the show relevant. They should just stick to original stories and reverse the Flanderization that has occurred this season because it has caused quite a bit of damage towards several characters.

Better Sci-Fi than anything out there
Marvin-D-Martian25 September 2023
OK, small spoiler warning ...

Futurama (in general) and especially this last season is giving us better sci-fi than anything released in the last few years (and possibly more).

Their explanation of simulation theory is probably the most fun and accurate I've ever seen (meaning accessible to anyone watching without turning into a TED talk).

Keep it up guys, always love when Futurama comes back, you are too smart and too much fun to keep you down!! Thanks for all the laughter over the years, it's crazy to think the first episode aired in 1999!!! You still got it and got even better! Can't wait what you come up with next! The writing is way smarter than almost anything out there!

A great end to a great season half
jaredbrady-4165725 September 2023
Wow.. this episode was one hell of a ride! And its everything we love about futurama and the characters in general! If you missed all the Sc-Fi storyline futurama use to tell this episode gave us everything!

The whole idea behind "are we living in a simulation" is always a very intriguing conversation and the way they went about doing the simulation story I absolutely loved. With the crew over seeing a simulation that the professor created, and asking themselves the same question..

Honestly this is the best episode of the season and it's one of those episodes which makes you happy that the show was brought back from the dead once again!

I can't wait to see what the writers come up with next! After ending on such a high note.

Lazy and unoriginal
samadams-1824925 September 2023
This episode seems to be written for college freshmen and other know-it-alls. This is even lampshaded in the episode when the professor tells Amy that she sounds like a stoned freshman.

South Park did an episode called "Simpsons Already Did It" to point out how lazy TV shows borrow from better shows. This episode is unmistakably derived from a Rick and Morty story, where it was done better.

When the show gets into pseudo-intellectual philosophy that should be obvious to anyone, everyone acts like its an epiphany, and most likely most of the viewers did so also, which explains the great number of 10 ratings for this episode.

The bad reviews for the previous episode likely stung Netflix, so even though this episode was already in the queue, viewers may have felt like they were being rewarded with another "intelligent" episode for sticking with it. At this point, I'm only watching out of morbid curiosity. I'll never re-watch any episode from this season.

It was definitely quite interesting
ericstevenson27 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode features Professor Farnsworth creating his own small simulation. They start off as mere sprites (is that the correct word?), but then evolve into looking just like the character. The simulation then creates their own simulation and wonder if they themselves are in a simulation. I'm glad they didn't add more levels to that. It was a lot like that "Rick And Morty" episode. Hey, new "Rick And Morty" is coming up too!

So anyway, Bender goes into a crisis about his own existence and doesn't want the simulation to find out who they are. He briefly takes control of simulation Bender, but finds out the simulation beings don't care if they're real or not. He goes back and Farnsworth gains the power to keep the simulation going. Everything is slowing down to the real world, but not to the simulation. The episode closes as Fry and Leela are about to kiss. It's one of the more philosophical episodes and certainly makes up for the last bad episode. ***1/2.

i must confess i was completely flabbergasted out of my brain after watching the S7.E7 "The Late Phillip J Fry" episode ....
webboy-8191628 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I must confess i was completely flabbergasted out of my brain after watching the S7. E7 "The Late Phillip J Fry" episode and literally watched it over and over again about 100 times!!! After watching this episode, i'm beginning to hope that maybe the Futurama team will really deliver and come up with an episode that is just as good as that amazing episode because this episode was at least about half as good as the "The Late Phillip J Fry" episode!!! In many ways, this episode had even more philosophical footprint than the "The Late Phillip J Fry" episode and made me wonder for a while whether we are all in a simulation and what that fact all means to us... The plot of this episode is a very futuramaish theme where you explore into the fact that our world is a simulation and creating a story out of that in a way that Futurama excels at. BTW, i think that if our world really is a simulation, that really explains a lot!!!

We're back, baby!
biggyofmt6 October 2023
This episode single handedly redeems the whole reboot. While there were a couple decent episdodes in the season, the stinkers had me wondering if it was really worth bring back. This episode answers with a resounding yes, delivering a classic episode. High concept sci-fi, clever animation, good humor and a satisfying emotional punch. If we get even one episode of this quality per season I'm a happy camper.

So please gives us more of these concept and science based episodes. You can entirely dispose of episodes that are one topical concept expanded to feature length. They don't work well at all.

Quantum Mechanics is NOT an evidence for the simulation theory, it is the other way around.
mellowgeekstudio25 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Best episode of the season. Only flaw is the Quantum Mechanics argument to the Universe being a simulation. The way quantum mechanics actually works makes it even more computation intensive than a classical deterministic universe, not the other way around. The whole "being in both places until an observation is made" is, according to the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, due to all trajectories taken place at the same time until one of them is observed by a particular observer. In order for, say, an electron travelling throught a two-slit experiment be simulated, the computer would have to compute all the trajectories taking place, even the ones prohibited by the classical laws of motion. It is actually an evidence AGAINST the simulation theory, not in favor of it. Charlatans like Elon Musk and Neil Degrasse Tyson would lie and make you believe otherwise for their own selfish egocentric reasons though.

It was a cleverly written story nevertheless.

Touching Conclusion!
AsirFarabi3 March 2024
The ending of Futurama was incredibly touching and left me on the verge of tears. It provided a perfect farewell to the characters, leaving me genuinely excited about their futures. The emotional impact was beautifully executed, creating a memorable and resonant conclusion. The show's storytelling brilliance is evident in its ability to evoke such heartfelt reactions. As a fan, I'm eagerly looking forward to the next chapter with anticipation and gratitude. Futurama's unique blend of humor and heart has left a lasting impression, and I can't wait for more delightful moments and adventures. Here's to Futurama, a series that knows how to craft a meaningful and heartfelt conclusion!

Solid Episode, refreshing after the rest of the season
aaaaaron-frannnnnnnn13 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This was a fun episode. It felt very "at home". And felt like I was watching an older classic episode. The only reason why this is an 8 out of 10, is because the whole "fry and leela" leading up kiss thing. Not only have we seen these two kiss, but we have seen them get married and have a literal life together frozen in time. Yes I know they technically don't remember that, but the audience does.

Other than that, it was a solid episode, and you could tell the writers had fun with the material. I am unsure if the writing staff is the same, but I know at one point they had like a dozen doctorates, dozen masters, and of those there were degrees in astrophysics or something.

all the way down .. the toilet
talllwoood1313 October 2023
Another lazily written episode as if they ran out of content and ideas. Going back and forth with the simulations was such a stupid idea. This hands down had to be the worst season ever and I wish Hulu never approached them or vice versa to make this season. This is NOT a return to form. This is NOT a classic episode or any other praise the bots who are writing a majority of the positive reviews are writing as any real fan will tell you that is just lies, trying to claim this forgetful episode is any good. Futurama has been cancelled a handful of times when they were doing a fantastic job. However this season if it was on Fox or any other network I'd absolutely cancel the series without any hesitation how poor these episodes are written and not even air the episodes. This is coming from a fan who has watched the show since the late 90s or early 2000s. My advice is to fire all the writers and get new people who actually are fans of the show or understand the charm this show has. If not hunt down the people who made the previous seasons and pay them what they deserve to be paid. Their worst ideas are better than this seasons best ideas.

Also is it just me or the block style version of the universe. Was that done intentionally.. or did they run out of money and just slapped something together in their animation programs. Either way I refuse to watch any more Hulu era Futurama. This was embarrassing.

about season 12
cwhtvsgg30 April 2024
I start watching futureama this year and i did finished all 11 seasons, but season 11 seams a bit boring I wasn't laughing much, nothing new just a copy of reused words. I really like the show more then "The Simpsons" bc of the science part, in fact im a HUGE FAN of "Rick and Morty" so i liked that.

I'm grateful for season 12, but i hope u guys work harder on the script and story.. I enjoy fry drama(ep3 s10), stupidity (ep1 s4) , his relationship with leila shush as (ep7 s7) and the last ep in season 10, love when we go back to the day he get freezed and stuff get complicated an actual BIG PROBLEMS to be FIXED with the DUMBEST IDEA ever, hard to know whats ganna happen next like (ep11 s10) it was magnificent! Even (ep5 s10).

All the characters can do better, an old man being childish, rich girl, bad robot, unwanted creature being dump and funny..etc maybe adding the future we hold, more ideas and NO MORE SANTA. So the show won't break the record of "the most cancelled show" I'd like a wonderful 7 episodes a year over a lame 13. (ep9 s11) had 4/10 it I literally laughed when I read a fan saying it most be written by ai .

Dont destroyed the show, keep pushing harder! It's a great show with fans.
