Touch has upped the stakes!
Cmichelle5112 February 2013
Last season was all about Martin learning to communicate with Jake while figuring out how special Jake's gift really was. The connections around the world were sometimes magical but sometimes borderline sappy and the formula with everything tied together at the end of each show was bound to get old. Touch gained a small but loyal following of people who liked to watch because they could watch it with their kids or because it was one of the only shows on TV with almost no violence. Unfortunately, sweet isn't what the large audience that started watching because Kiefer Sutherland was starring, wanted, and they left in droves. Touch has retooled for season 2 and in the process, probably alienated some of the viewers who loved it.

That being said, if the first two episodes of season 2 are any indication of the rest of the season, it's going to a wild ride! There is danger at every turn. The law is after Martin for taking his son from state custody in New York. The story arc involving the search for Amelia and Aster Corps from last season is front and center with, Lucy, Amelia's mom, joining forces (with lots of help from Jake), with Martin, to find the missing girl. There.'s also a religious zealot who believes that the special ones, like Amelia and Jake, are blasphemous and his intentions are evil, and pretty violent. Touch still has plenty of heart and It's really nice to see Martin be able to connect with a parent who understands what he's going through. Jake is opening up too but now Touch has become a rather thrilling ride as well and I can't wait to see where it goes. My only fear is that the audience they are hoping will tune back in won't, and that some of those who loved the sweetness will tune out and we won't be able to see the continuing saga of Jake and his dad because of poor ratings.
