Emotional
karannmedhi2 October 2023
"Birha" is a short film that explores the theme of separation and longing. The film features a protagonist who returns to his homeland with a single desire in his heart, and the narrative revolves around the activities and performances of the characters. The film is driven by universal emotions and delivers visceral reactions. The technical aspects of the film contribute to its impact. Rajit Kapoor delivers an outstanding performance as the aging father, and Manav Vij's portrayal of the son is commendable. The film effectively conveys a haunting sense of loneliness. While it incorporates a twist in the end, which may seem like a cliche, it doesn't diminish the overall impact of the story. "Birha" stays true to its theme and finds an apt rhythm for exploring the subject, making it a compelling short film.

Great watch with just one flaw.
rpuller9 October 2023
Birha is a great watch that will stay with you for a long time. The film looks great and had an authentic Punjabi setting. The performances are great expect Rajit Kapur's Punjabi accent. Every frame is good and captures the sense of longing and guilt and difference between a father and son. The cinematography and sound design are well-crafted. The background music uplifts the film. The dialogues are very apt. A must watch short available on JioCinema. The director has crafted this short with his whole heart and I'm looking forward for what he makes next. Overall, a great short and highly recommended if you are a fan of emotional and heart touching tales.

Birth of a Masterpiece 🙏🙏
akhilkumarofficial29 September 2023
I came across this beautiful film ' Birha ' on Jio Cinema app and I still can't get over the fact as how beautifully and poetically the story has been communicated. It almost felt like the entire story was happening in front of my eyes. It was as real as it can get. Right from writing, direction, bgm to acting, cinematography, casting etc it excels in all departments. Special mention and thanks to Rajit Kapur sir and Manav Kaul sir who I feel are 2 of the best actors we have. Big congratulations to producers like Galib Dutta ji for showing the courage to back such stories which are high on content and emotion. It's time that we as Indian Audiences start giving respect to such cinema which is deeply rooted in each one of us.

Without giving too much about the story. I suggest that if you get a chance to watch it with your parents it'll be icing on the cake.

Coincidentally it's my parents anniversary today and I can't thank them enough for all that they have done for me.

Watch this masterpiece as soon as you can, you'll probably thank me later 🙏🙏

Gut wrenchingly emotional
heatherh-141341 October 2023
Deeply authentic characters and a truely innovative twist makes an otherwise traditional peemise come alive; all packed into an unbelievable 25 minute short story.

Very accurate setting where the house resembles exactly the kind of house that one would find in rural North India. The setting gives power to the plot.

Dialogues were incredibly honest and subtly talks about a lot of issues without being in your face. In today's political climate, such films should be viewed by all young Indians and parents.

No words can give justice to the praise I wish to give to the actors!

We absolutely cannot wait to see more from the writer, Hemant Singh!

So real and pure masterpeice where emotions has dialogue
jatricsharma2 October 2023
My heart cried watching this short master piece. I live in US and my parents are in India and they are old. Though I talked to them daily but this movie shook my body watching the last scene where father was crying that made my heart out.

Its the story of so many parents living alone and waiting for years for their children to come back or atleast just visit them.

So If I felt that emotion proves how authentic and pure this movie.

About acting, I literally did not realize its Rajit sir in father role. How pure his punjabi in this movie believed me its someone local from punjab. And again in the role of son. Manav did justice.

Again thankyou so much Mr. Puneet Prakash for this emotion and love through this movie.

Much more than a Movie
monicalakhanpal-8489330 October 2023
Watched this short film many times and every time it touches the emotion and makes you overwhelmed. Perfect direction. Captured genuine emotions, genuine Punjab rural home setting. Simply a masterpiece.

The actors, the background music, the voice modulation are so heartfelt that it makes you teary eyed. It is very difficult to control your emotions during this film. One can relate to this movie very easily as if you have gone through this situation of forgiveness with your parents.

Highly commendable performance by everyone who were part of making this short film.. A must watch movie. I have watched it more than 10 times. Highly recommended movie. Kudos to all!

Birha a chance encounter with a masterpiece
sarabpreetkbedi29 October 2023
This was my 4th movie in the short series currently on Jiocinema and undoubtedly the best of short movies seen in a long time Brings tears to eyes. You just can't help think from both sides.. Folly of a youthful ambition and cry for redemption and then thinking and imagining the long journey led by the parents after their sons errant doing.. of what thy had felt over the years gone by.. And then the simple human emotion of parental love and forgiveness for an errant child.

Must watch. Excellent performances in past and present. You can just not think of the plot again and again. Its short movie but it will remain with you for a long long time

Must watch.

Outstanding performances by the lead actors
usinai10 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Rajit Kapur & Manav Vij's performances grip you emotionally. The storyline moves from the past to the present establishing a seamless transition. Manav as Inder begging for forgiveness within the sobs was exceptional. Rajit Kapur's voice rendition calling out Inder was the Show Stealer!! I counted Inder '16' times and each time I heard 'Inder' being called differently.

Watching it brought in some memories with my late father. We do have our difference of opinions and in Birha, I re-lived those moments.

Kudos to the entire team for bringing up this Masterpiece! The background music stayed with me long after the film was over...
