A New Foe
Hitchcoc21 July 2023
First of all, I apologize for the overlap information. The bookstore woman is in this episode, not the last. But the real focus of this is a guy named Hardman (interesting name) who was a founder of the firm. He did all kinds of shady things. But his wife dies at the beginning of the episode and he decides to come back and take over the firm. They all know he is vindictive and truly bad news. He is a threat to all the regular players, and Mike's secret, should it be revealed, could wipe out everyone, and destroy the entire business. Harvey and Mike now have to protect themselves, as well as Jessica, who, thanks to Trevor, knows about Mike's secret. Hardman is inveigling his way in, coming clean and embracing the regular members of the firm because he will need their votes. He hates Harvey and vice versa. Louis begins to plot out his future of butt kissing to stay in the firm no matter what. Very good episode.

Very poorly written

Warning: Spoilers
Season one was great. Obviously, or I wouldn't have even gotten to season two.

But my love affair is quickly dimming due to the extremely poor writing for this episode.

First, we see a lowly bookstore employee demanding compensation for a literary idea. It is so laughable! People have story ideas all the time and they are entitled to zero compensation. It's not how this works. That whole storyline was absolute rubbish.

We now have Hardman, of Hardman and Pearson, making a return for apparently no reason. The reason is blackmail, based on a poor premise, and backed up with an even weaker blackmail attempt which is solved by "oh, I told her everything so now you gotta welcome me back". Huh? It makes no sense.

Man, I hope season two gets better than whatever rubbish this is.
