Takes you to a distinguished world tour. Good indie movie to watch out.

Warning: Spoilers
An indie film shot in 25 different countries, 5 different continents by 25 different directors! I had the fortune to be at the Delhi premiere of the movie. A movie which has already made it to the Guinness book for the maximum number of directors takes you to a distinguished world tour with a backpack as the main protagonist!

The plot is captivating but quite ordinary though. The editing, music and video clips have been handled so well that we'd think the movie has been directed by a single director. Very good collaborative efforts in terms of showcasing the variety in languages, cultures and film-making styles. In the end, the backpack comes to a full circle. The end did disappoint me; a lot better could've been done with the plot. The movie does not let you even blink till more than an hour, till it arrives to France & Germany. The parts in India, Dubai, Lebanon, US etc. are interesting too. But post that it becomes very slow and repetitive, specially in Ireland, England, South Africa and so on till it ends.

A good movie to watch especially for the innovation in film-making. Recommended for the collaborative style and the efforts of a lot of independent directors.

Most have never met each other!

The American from Hollywood to the cows of India; the German accents and some Italian herbs spice up this incredible film!

wonderful movie about a backpack's quest around the world

A wonderfully creative, innovative, colorful and enjoyable movie. The directors certainly had their hearts in the right place: creativity and experimentation rather than monetary gain or adherence to strict reality.

By virtue of its unprecedented number of directors, The Owner is unique. The thrill, variety and color of the movie, as the plot moves from one country to another and often from one language to another, are unmistakable. The different segments and sub-plots are sometimes witty and at times poignant. The audience at one moment witnesses fashion models, police, and mystery, and soon enough video-games, child-birth, and death.

An inspiration for future filmmakers. A tribute to collaboration.

Shortcomings: Perhaps becomes a little too long towards the second half. The first half is definitely more compelling. Some amount of stereotyping: bullock-carts in the India segment, for instance.

A delightful trip around the world

What an amazing achievement! The entire project from conception through production and final product is just mind boggling! I found "The Owner" to be a refreshing and insightful film. Clarity, continuity and creativity on the part of every director involved is just stellar. The use of technology in coordinating production and writing the script adds a new layer to film making. The post production work brought a sense of seamless flow to the story. I realize my entire review is a stream of hyperbole, but this film was so different, I don't want to ruin it for anyone by going into too much detail regarding the plot twists. Just go see it. I highly recommend "The Owner".

A touching worldwide trek
cattgirl81325 January 2013
This film has everything a view could ask for. There are moments of humor, suspense, surrealism, drama, and introspection, all within in minutes of each other. I was amazed at how well each of the individual directors worked together to make a cohesive, fun, and thought provoking story. It's evident that everyone involved worked hard to keep a singular message and POV in mind, and the effort paid off. All the vignettes flowed together seamlessly, yet each managed to have a unique, individualized look and feel, and that takes a lot of work and care. Some of the vignettes worked better for me than others, but that will probably be the case for each viewer. If a segment doesn't work for you, hang in there...another one will come along that will draw you right back into the overall story. I won't give away the ending, but I will say that the final minutes of dialog will move you and keep you thinking long after you're done viewing this film. Bravo to the filmmakers and to everyone involved for creating such a warm and innovative work.

A whole new world of filmmaking
jblockbuster-461-77484312 August 2014
The Owner is truly one of the most amazing films I've seen in the last years.

Personally I feel the story of making the Owner is as big as the film itself - 25 directors from all over the world gather their resources to create one film. A film like this would have been impossible to make just years ago but now, in the time of networking over the internet, a whole new world opens up for independent filmmakers.

Specifically interesting about The Owner is the story the filmmakers created to weave all their different segments into one whole story. The Owner is not a collection of short stories but a journey. A journey of a backpack which travels the world.

I am very curious to see what else we'll see from CollabFeature during the next years.

I can imagine how hard is to coordinate a job like this with so many crews, but the results are just great ! And for the audience is very interesting i think to find so many different cultures in one project.Keep realizing a good ideas like this,so the people could find more cool movies like 'the owner'. This movie absolutely deserve guinness nomination and it is one of the kind ! There aren't a lot of projects with multiple directors specially with so many ,and thats give a lot of styles and make it interesting and unique.

Outstanding achievement!

Watching a movie that entertains you with such a complex production is just refreshing and brings hope to my spirit. The story is well presented throughout many countries, characters and sub-stories. The production design as a whole is just an award winning job!! Highly recommended! The acting is great and really liked watching the culture of each particular country coming afloat in each segment with the plots each story has. Connecting all the segments with just a bag is a brilliant idea! And these filmmakers took full advantage of this to collaborate in a movie that reflects the real spirit of indie filmmaking. Storytellers by nature. A great movie that needs to be watched!

Bravo!

This film is quite an achievement. It's impressive how the filmmakers had so many different locations and so many different directors involve and still managed to achieve such a high level of consistency in regard to acting, sound and lighting. It was fun to watch and follow the journey of the "Rucksack" throughout the world and then end up... well, you have to see it.

Intriguing concept and gripping story!
alexander-schoenauer6 September 2014
this is an awesome example of how it is possible for people from various religions and countries to work towards a common goal - a feature film in this case. This fact alone sends out a strong message to the world that there is an alternative to the current global situation ... that people are more than ready to live and work together in a creative and peaceful way.

The film itself offers a grand scope spanning over various continents and it is fascinating that it weaves together so very well considering that it was shot by 25 different filmmakers with their own style and background.

Kudos to the people behind this film!

What a cool project! This film spans multiple countries, worldwide, giving audiences a richly cultured experience. The directors for this project were clearly carefully chosen, and the quality from segment to segment maintains it's strength from beginning to end. Kudos to the producers, and all who worked to make this collaboration a successful one.
