I happened upon this by chance. It's unlikely I'm the target audience as a 46 year old man. I used to enjoy watching Lily Allen's chat show a few years ago so I gave this a watch other than that my only point of reference was Frances Barber ( from amongst other things Rik Mayall presents and the amazing episode of The Street with Bob Hoskins). The trailer for this I watched after all 6 episodes it is really good. The whole show reminded me a bit of the Stephen Merchant show Outlaws. It's not quite as funny as that show or quite as compelling. I'd say that Barber is slightly wasted in her role which I found a bit cliched (maybe it has been heavily edited) . Lily Allen was good in this but I felt that her character wasn't written that well . Gabby Best was good in her supporting role. The character that held the whole thing together was Freema Agyeman's character . I've never seen her before and she saved this from being a little bit mediocre. I enjoyed it. It is worth watching and is pretty entertaining.

I do not think I will be able to manage a six hundred word review but I will try.

I thought it was funny, very English and had a really good cast.

Freema Agyeman was great to watch in a totally different role to the marvellously well put together Dr Helen Sharpe in New Amsterdam.

Lily Allen has totally turned herself around and was very credible as. Smelly Mel.

The rest of the cast were very good as well. Especially Nanna.

My main criticism is that I felt the story could have gone on a lot further and at least 12 episodes were needed. It was all Uber just as it was getting good. I hope there's a second longer series.

I have no understanding why some critics said this show was good. Ok lily allen is in it. She's not an actor but is ok in this. It reminds me of Benidorm. Nothing really happens and it's not really funny and there is also not really much drama. It's massively overrated D it's a "sky original" . How many of those have been good? Promising young woman was good but really their output has been poor so it's not really a surprise to see content like this .lily Allen used to be famous for being.a drugged pop star and flashing her boobs. It doesn't appear there is much too much to her. Marry a stranger things actor ....

The usually brilliant Sharon Horgan is attached to this production, but it's clear as day she's not had much involvement in this limp mess. Surely the whole concept was thought up in some Soho House coke-fuelled session? "Babe y'know everyone's moving to Margate now". The whole thing oozes overfunded and under-skilled girlboss energy, much like so much of British television today. The addition of Lily Allen just intensifies the privilege and disconnection on show.

To make up for a lack of script, acting and storyline they've added a lot of Technicolor saturation to at least keep you involved...

Nothing particularly stands out with this comedy, it's a pleasant watch and makes Margate look quite idyllic. I must admit I got a kick from the nostalgia of many seaside holidays there .

It's not particularly funny nor so many of the main cast gel all that much, with standard EastEnders /soapy plots. .

The cinematography is all over the place though. Lots of lovely shots of the seaside with oversaturated colour and bright vibrant colours give it a pictur postcard look, but the CinemaScope widescreen aspect is totally wasted on everything else. Scenes with characters talking flick between characters and we have full frame closeups instead of wider shots that would look better in the format.

It's clearly filmed for a normal 16:9 aspect and modified in post as the directors just don't take advantage of the format properly .

There is definitely a market for this type of ""comedy"" writing. Its just not for me. I mean I tried, 6 episodes in and didnt laugh which is fine because we all have different likes but I couldnt connect with any of the characters either. I didnt like, admire or feel sorry for any of them.

The whole point of this show seems to be who is the angriest and who can blame others the most, even blaming strangers...sigh.... I did expect more due to the names behind the scenes and the names in front of the camera but sadly it did nothing for me... I dont give spoilers so I wont here, just to say that some reviewers have said the characters are like real people.....I genuinely would hate to be around so many angry bitter people who want to blame everyone for any problems in their lives.

Like I said, there is definitely a market for this kind of show. Go on twitter,insta, tiktok etc and you will find lots of angry people trying to blame strangers for something they didnt do or say..those people would love this show... If the makers turned down the contrast, called it a drama and eased off the "messages" then it could be OK. But I struggle with the comedy label...

Dreamland has a fantastic cast! Lily Allen, Freema Agyeman, Frances Barber, Gabby Best, Aimee-Ffion Edwards and Shiela Reid, shine through as they depict this dysfunctional family. Great to see Kiell Smith-Bynoe in a more serious role, which he does to perfection.

The first episode can be a bit full on, in places, but as the episodes unfold, we see a calmer, deeper, emotional side of the characters and their vulnerabilities. Dreamland pulls you from some brash humour in the first episode through to an emotional journey and anguish as the episodes unfold. 10/10! Bravo! Love to have a season 2!!

Aside from the two obviously fake 10 reviews on here, the other reviewers have got it pretty much spot on. For a comedy drama, it is neither funny, or dramatic. It looks like the editors realised it was pretty dull so turned the contrast and colour settings up to the max. What you end up with is the look of a kids show and the feel of watching (technicolour) paint dry. I've a feeling Lily Allen has a lot to offer but her part and so-so lines give her very little to work with. The rest of the cast inhabit characters who are at best annoying and at worst unwatchable. The premise is ok, but the execution is clumsy. Avoid.

This is right up my street, I binge watched, which I don't normally do and loved it. It was refreshing to watch something that had comical elements as well as serious issues, and no sci-fi / vampire sucking / zombie walking links! I enjoyed watching many of the actors who I'd seen in various other programmes doing something different styles to usual. I came across this after seeing LA on a chat show promoting it and wasn't disappointed, she sold it well. I would love to know how a potential series 2 would look! Thought 'Trish' played a brilliant role, all the sisters are very different, which made the show interesting. Made me chuckle, smile and cry a little too!

I watched this on the basis that it was written by Motherland and Bad Sisters' Sharon Horgan. It turns out she is an executive producer and Dreamland has literally none of the brilliance of the two aforementioned shows.

From the outset we see the grotesque shock factor this new Sky drama rides on. Lurid, brash, in your face comedy. Garish and loud, for those who need the worst of British seaside wildlife served up in a pink greasy chip wrapper.

Where Motherland and Bad Sisters excelled was in likeable, relatable and flawed characters and well-crafted storytelling. Both were clearly tv gold from the first 10 minutes. In the first 10 minutes of this we get a rabbit that excretes its own initials. That about sums it up.

I really wanted to like it but clearly this is not for me.

TV has got so boring lately and this was brilliant. Really down to earth and really lifelike. There is a character that everyone can relate too. I saw some rubbish reviews about it and was unsure but glad I ignored them, some people critique for the sake of it. Let it be enjoyed for what it is, a enjoyable short series. Can't wait for Series 2.

The storyline is true to life and the language and concept is certainly is well thought out.

I'll admit some parts were probably not needed but the questions about who and what keep you watching. All of the cast are brilliant some familiar faces in there too.

Just a bad unfunny show. Lots of badly written characters and the privileged Lilly Alan shows up which is disastrous for any tv show.

Once again British tv takes a low hit with another badly made tv show made for the masses.

The writers and cast should be happy with a 6.1 for now as this will end up in the mid 5s no doubt and that's high I would say for such a poor show.

Hopefully British tv takes a different direction going forward with these types of shows. No one seems to be learning from these badly made and reviewed shows that they just don't work. Take Lilly Alan out of if it and it would be bearable....maybe but probably not.

I love the family dynamic feels like home. All the characters and there person lifes. I justed love love loved it.

With a quite humor and whit. It's not laugh out loud. But a beautiful display of family and people lives. I felt very connected to the family. In many ways like my own family love and hate at the same time. Hard to love the people you are stuck with. But couldn't be without them.

Shows a deep emotion. The bond and hurt. I just love the Nan formally know as mag from beindorm. What a character. Hiding her beads. I just can't wait with antipation and hope of what's to come. All the best and I'm looking forward too what's next.

I seriously loved this show. I've been so disenchanted with shows for a while now but Dreamland got me from the first episode. It's raw, gritty, funny, and real. I'm hanging out for seasons 2. Wish I hadn't watched it so quickly.

Story of 4 sisters who didn't know their father's with a plot twist that leaves you hanging for more. It's not your typical drama comedy show. I cared about these characters almost instantly. There was no build up to caring. They are well written, superbly acted characters. I haven't seen Lily Allen act before and I truly hope she does more acting in the future because she was great.

Also, unrelated note- as an Aussie, I loved the reference to Drazic from Heartbreak High.

I loved this show, so diverse. I found it funny with some emotional scenes. A dysfunctional family that works. There's so much to learn about the family that it would be a shame not to have a second series also because of how series 1 ended, it left so much open and so many questions unanswered. What happens between Mel and Trish? What happens between Trish and Spence? Does the Mum and Diane get back together and does she reveal all to her family? What happened between Cheryl and her sister Orla. Yes you can take educated guesses but I'd rather have a second series to answer these and other questions it left me with.

I have never binge watched anything before in my life but I simply could not stop watching this! It was funny, dramatic, sympathetic etc... everything I expected it to be. I found the characters to be relatable and I really wanted to know what happened next for each of them. So disappointed it was only 6 episodes, over far too quickly. I really hope they don't leave it too long before series two!!

Lots of familiar faces all under one roof, especially great to see Freema Agyeman who is SO underrated and I'm hoping to see lots more of her on our screens. I wasn't a Lily Allen fan back in the day but I totally am now!

I watched this as I love Freema Agyeman, was drawn in by the beautiful colours and interested in Margate (as many are at the moment it seems!) I really enjoyed it and watched the whole series in one evening alone, and a 2nd time with my girlfriend as I knew she'd like it.

You don't get jaw-dropping performances and that's fine, no one would expect or want it from a show like this but my god Freema is amazing and brings such depth and reality to her role as Trish. Lily has a pretty good acting debut too.

I felt the emotional core of this - as someone who doesn't have sisters it was painful, beautiful and intriguing to watch this story and the relationships unfold. We found the ending so sad but hope things continue to develop in further seasons.

It's shorter than Skins, and without the sex or drugs, but has comedy, a great cast and a surprising amount of drama and heart - a dramedy more than a comedy, though it is still funny. Reminds me a little of misfits too, more like a channel 4 series than a Sky one. I personally am sad it ended so soon! Roll on series 2 and the sooner the better! The storylines are intriguing; I'm already invested in the characters. Anyone who had any doubt about Lily Allens acting should put it away - it's like she was made for the character. Really rather good.

That's all I have to say really, just that it's good and now I have met the character requirement for a review! Enjoy.

I admit the first episode made me think "hmm, shall I bother carrying on?" but I'm glad I did! I got hooked, binged my way through the series and then was desperate for more after episode 6. It's a whirlwind of an introduction to this chaotic, blended family, but amidst their crises we do get glimpses of their love and bonds with each other. It's not laugh a minute, and the main themes of the series aren't exactly funny, but there are moments along the way that do make you laugh. The funniest character by far was Dom, played by Hugh Coles, who made me laugh out loud pretty much every time he had dialogue! I also thought the exploration of the relationship between the mum and Diane, and the themes of sexual orientation, identity and shame, were quite emotional at times.

I absolutely loved it. It's a wholesome show although the secret is really jacked up. Not drama filled but that is what makes it refreshing. Loved it. Hope there is a season 2. The actresses did a great job especially Freema (Trish). If you want a show that will make you laugh and hold your breath at times then I highly recommend. I think Lily Allen did a great job in making me not like her character. Not sure if it's because it's British humor or what but it seems blunt which I enjoyed as well. Loved the serious topics as well with Black women/paternity and LGBT+ (coming out). It was nice to see something and feel seen.
