- Terry and Kim issue a brutal challenge while Chozen teaches his students a different kind of lesson. Johnny and Daniel demand answers from Kreese.
- While Daniel and Johnny go to see Kreese in prison to see if he can help them in their fight against Silver and his plans to spread Cobra Kai, Chozen, Terry, and Kim teach their students at their respective dojos differing lessons in fighting and leadership.—Gislef
- Cobra Kai has completely taken over the San Fernando Valley, with more and more locations opening up every day. Their advertisements are everywhere, and out on the streets, their students are recruiting and flaunting Cobra Kai's free wares. Anthony passes one such table outside a mall, and throws one of the shirts he is given to the ground. Kenny and his friends witness this, and take their revenge immediately. In the offices at LaRusso Auto, Johnny, Daniel, Chozen, and Amanda hold a war meeting. Yet another Cobra Kai has opened, and the kids of the Valley are signing up in droves to learn The Way of the Fist. Johnny thinks the answer lies in finding evidence of Silver's shady past, but Daniel tells him he and Chozen already tried that route, and they are down one furniture store. As for Silver's grand plan, while he hinted at it to Daniel, he is keeping the details a closely guarded secret. Amanda suggests that there is one person that might already know; John Kreese. The men are horrified at the idea of turning to the former sensei for help, although it is their only feasible option.
The next day, the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fangs are assembled at the dojo to continue their training, now joined by Anthony, and rejoined by Robby. Anthony worries that he will never catch up to Kenny's training and be able to defend himself, but Sam tries to encourage him. Meanwhile, Miguel tells an excited Eli and Demitri that he and Sam have decided to stay on friendly, if not romantic terms. Both have reservations at seeing Robby back in the dojo. Chozen calls them to begin, as he will be taking over their training personally for the day while Daniel and Johnny pursue their own mission. He plans to make them ready for their inevitable next clash with the enemy dojo, and teaches them about a flightless Okinawan bird, Yanbaru Kuina, that must protect its eggs from poisonous snakes. He give them each a chicken's egg to protect. He will be playing the snake, and has a variety of weapons at his disposal. The terrified students scatter to prepare for his attack.
At the flagship dojo, the Cobras are being worked harder than ever. Devon points out that it feels like they are being trained for war. Tory remains distant, which Devon resents. Tory tries to warn the younger girl away from Cobra Kai, which Devon perceives as her being scared of competition. Meanwhile, Kenny's rock solid form is making Kyler uncomfortable. The jock has inserted himself as the male leader since Robby has gone, and Kenny is still beholden to the older teen. In the office, Terry and Kim Da Eun observe their students on the security cameras. Kim says that even with the sheer number of fighters, they will need some to step up. She has a plan to separate the leaders from the followers in their ranks. Meanwhile, Johnny and Daniel go to the prison to visit Kreese, expecting to find him humbled from his time behind bars. They are dismayed to see he has made himself at home, with the other inmates ready to fill his every need. Kreese is unhappy see Daniel, but Johnny is unwilling to stay alone. Daniel tells Kreese they have a common enemy in Silver, and Johnny tries to goad him into talking. Kreese claims to know exactly what Terry's plans are, but refuses to help his enemies.
At the Miyagi-Do dojo, the students try to get ready for Chozen's lesson. Mitch sits on his egg, Chris climbs a tree, and Demitri has MacGyvered a protective case using materials he had on hand. Anthony doesn't know what to do if Chozen comes for him, and Sam is surprised that their dad never taught him the basics. He admits that he found a way around completing the lessons, so his sister tells him to use his mind to outsmart the problem. Robby approaches and he and Samantha catch up, happy to have the original Miyagi-Do students back together in the dojo. Eli offers to rough Robby up for going near Sam, but Miguel calls him off, as he and Robby have made amends, and he is confident they are only friends. Chozen begins his assault, starting with stabbing straight through Demitri's casing with a throwing knife as Miguel and Eli abandon him. At Cobra Kai, their training continues. Silver has separated the boys and girls to spar with Kim and another member of The Fist, Odell. They are called up in pairs, the goal to discover who shows leadership by scoring a point against the master opponent. Silver sends Kyler and Kenny in first, and Kyler automatically takes the lead, which only involves telling Kenny what to do, and sending him in to take hits while he waits for an opening to score the point. Terry is unimpressed. Kim pairs Devon with Tory, to their dismay. Devon tries to go it alone, against Tory's advice to work together, and they are easily defeated.
At the prison, Daniel tries to convince Kreese to tell them what he knows so they can defeat Silver. Kreese is skeptical of Daniel's ability to do that, since he already failed even with a free lead. Daniel realizes that Kreese is the one that had the newspaper clipping delivered to his house, and tells him that his "lead" led him straight into Silver's trap. Kreese admits that was not the way he'd intended it, but was pleased with Daniel's painful results anyway. Johnny is ready to leave Kreese where he belongs, but the older man insists that he's innocent. He is only still incarcerated because Silver has the District Attorney in his pocket and he cannot afford a lawyer that can get him parole. Daniel offers a deal: tell them what Terry's planning, and Daniel will arrange to have a good attorney take Kreeses case. Kreese agrees.
Chozen easily picks off Mitch, Chris, Nate, and Burt's eggs one by one. Robby tries burying his egg, but Chozen is watching him and stabs it with a spear. Eli tries defending his egg by facing Chozen head on, and Chozen uses his nunchucks to bat the egg straight into Anthony, who surrenders his egg willingly. As Eli joins the losers on the sparring deck, Robby tries to make conversation, but Eli is still resentful of him. Robby reminds Eli that he is in no small part responsible for many wrongdoings of his own, and Demitri tells them that since they are both former Cobras Kais, its about time they call it even and focus on the matter at hand. Only Sam and Miguel are left, and Miguel runs into Sam, who is hiding in the dojo proper. They talk about her rejoining karate, and he tells her that their breakup may have been the opportunity he needed to patch things up with Robby. They both claim to be happy just as Chozen finds them and attacks Miguel. They young man had his egg in his pocket, and it is smashed when Chozen knocks him to the ground. Sam's egg has already been pickpocketed right out of her backpack, and the sensei crushes it in front of her. The exercise is over, and Chozen is disappointed in his students.
At Cobra Kai, none of the students have managed to score a hit on their senseis. Kenny has had enough of Kyler using him as a distraction while he stays back, and Terry calls him into his office. Terry asks him about his father in the army, his brother in juvie, and about Robby. Kenny has always let others lead him, just like Terry. He listened to his father, his captain, and then his own best friend, but tells Kenny that he only reached his potential by using his own instincts. Kenny made the assumption that Kyler was meant to lead the exercise, and Terry tells him to stop looking to others for leadership.
Chozen admonishes his students for failing to protect their eggs, and tells them that they must learn what to do to stop the snakes from making them extinct. He orders them to run the lesson again, and they remark that he seems to be teaching them the hardest parts of both aggression and defense. As they get ready to separate again, Anthony realizes that Chozen has been dropping hints that they lost because they tried to win on their own, and comes up with a plan to succeed the next test. He gathers all of the students' eggs into a hat and forms a protective line around it on the sparring deck. The Miyagi-Fangs stay close together as Chozen makes his move. Chozen charges the line and the students fight back against him, ganging up on him and taking his bo staff. Chozen almost manages to snag the eggs, but Anthony pulls them to safety while Robby, Sam, Miguel, Eli, and the others reform the line and push the sensei back. Unable to break through, Chozen relents. He and the students celebrate, and Chozen congratulates them on understanding the lesson in teamwork. Now that they have learned to fight together as a single unit, he can teach them techniques to master their defensive capabilities as a group.
At Cobra Kai, none of the girls can get close to Kim Da Eun, she haughtily tells them that they would never last in her dojo in Korea. Devon tells Tory she wants to try again, as the only way to learn is to keep trying. Tory agrees on the condition that Devon listen to her, which is why Devon signed up in the first place. They accept Kim's challenge, and last longer this time. However, Kim takes Devon down and prepares to finish her off. Tory pulls her away, but is also taken down. Kim tells Tory she should have sacrificed her follower to achieve victory, but Tory says that's not what a real leader does. Devon is pleased they got close, and her respect for Tory grows. On the other side of the dojo however, Kenny and Kyler are called up once again. This time, Kenny refuses to follow Kyler's orders, and goads him into a fight. Kenny pushes him into Odell, and uses him has a springboard to land a kick on the sensei, winning the exercise.
At the prison, Daniel leaves to make a call, and Kreese tries to convince Johnny that Cobra Kai isn't the problem, its Silver. Johnny knows better, and tells Kreese that he is in the fight to take Cobra Kai, Silver, and Kreese down for good, and wipe away everything they stand for. Daniel returns with a sheet of paper, and tells Kreese its his lawyer's number. Kreese can have it once he tells the senseis everything he knows about Silver's intentions. Kreese tells them that when Terry was young, he was a scrawny kid, overcome by fear and cowardice. After they were rescued from Vietnam and started Cobra Kai, Terry became obsessed with becoming the best fighter possible. In 1980 South Korea, Young Kreese and Silver fight under the tutelage of the Way of the Fist master himself, Kim Sun Yung, while his young granddaughter watches in secret. When their trip to study under him is over, Terry approaches Kreese and tells him that he has bought the Cobra Kai dojo for him full time, and Kreese is grateful, but insists on paying rent to him as thanks. Terry congratulates him on his success in the Valley, but offers him a new opportunity. He shows him a pamphlet for the Sekei Taikai, the world's most elite karate tournament. He tells Kreese that if they sign up Cobra Kai and win, they could spread their way to the entire world. Kreese refuses, saying they are not ready for something so big. He needs to focus on his pupils, in particular a new boy that he thinks has the potential to be his best student ever. Terry drops the subject, and in the modern day Kreese tells Daniel and Johnny that Silver is planning once again to enter Cobra Kai into the Sekei Taikai. If he succeeds, The Way of the Fist will go global. Kreese has fulfilled his end of the bargain, and demands the lawyer's number, but Daniel and Johnny have double crossed him, using his own 'No Mercy' philosophy against him. Kreese tells them they have no chance at taking down Silver without him, but they are not so sure about that, and leave Kreese to his fate.
