The grave set consisted of four five foot high walls constructed with chicken wire, two by fours, paper-mache, and real dirt. Unfortunately for the cast, the dirt began to grow mold by the time shooting started, and smelled awful.

The shot of the millipede crawling out of the Dad's nose was done by filming a plate of actor Jim Coulter, and then shooting a separate plate of a latex head casting, which the millipede was gently pushed through. These two shots were matted together, creating a very cheap and realistic special effect.
