Episode 3

The striking aspects of the third episode was Marga's journey into womanhood. It was An Handmaid's' Tale for her.

An eerie view of how young adolescents were regarded as baby making machines without love, passion or joy. It was dystopian as the girls are robbed of their names and history.

Marga finds another girl who has been there for a few months and unable to fall pregnant. She has been rejected by the other men, seen as barren.

In Manchester Kasia find out that James Danemere is military intelligence. She demands to get back to Poland to help with the war effort.

The soapy bits were Harry Chase getting injured in Egypt and waking up in a field hospital being nursed by Lois.

The adventure was left to Stan and Rajib. Stan learns first hand that the British Indian Army are expendable.

I'm sure some viewers are left uncomfortable with the realities of just how Indian soldiers were treated.

A powerful episode.

Kasia has suspicions about James Danamere, she searches his room, and makes an interesting discovery. Stan and Rajib are hijacked crossing Africa, and face a desperate mission to escape their potential captors.

Possibly this is the best episode of this second series so far, so much is happening here, peril for many of the characters, including Stan and David. I had a feeling there'd be an episode where it was all guns blazing, this was it.

Marga is essentially the victim on the inside, her story is harrowing, tragic and incredibly sad, the future that would await her in this situation doesn't bare thinking about.

One things that's just become apparent, those scenes in Africa, at times I'm not sure if they look authentic, the air scenes however look amazing.

Two performances that really stood out for me, Mark Bonnar and Lesley Manville, I adored James and Robina's scenes were excellent, a little bit of flirtation.

Loved it.

9/10.

Warning: Spoilers
So two British soldiers manage to steal a kubelwagen and capture a german soldier on the way.

As the three of them drive through the desert the suddenly notice that the German has managed to get from the back seat and escape from a two door tiny wee car without anyone noticing. A trick even Paul Daniels couldn't have managed in his prime.

They have managed to take a good series one and extrapolate it so far beyond the realms of possibility and reality that they've spoiled the reputation series 1 built up.

The only saving grace is that they have not used a backing track of modern rock music like they did with SAS rogue heroes.
