Strong start to the mini series.

I have always felt there's a lack of Political themed dramas in the UK, fairly popular in the U.S. but sadly not here, a topic that effects us all in every possible way. So a look, albeit dramatised and sensationalised into the workings of Westminster is too intriguing to avoid.

The drama itself is perhaps tame when one considers the current Political goings on, Brexit, Boris Johnson, Theresa May etc, but this tale of deceit and revenge makes for intriguing viewing.

I'm a massive David Tennant fan, still my number one Doctor Who since the show's return, but I find myself in agreement with the other reviewer here, I feel he's slightly shadowed by the sheer quality of Emily Watson's acting, such a supreme talent, she acts without even needing to speak, a true talent. Tennant is great, as too is the fantastic Ed Stoppard, who was brilliantly cast, a handsome guy, with the attributes you'd expect a Politician to have, as you look at him you're aware he'd sell his own Granny out to climb the Political ladder.

Some great moments, the best coming when Freya gives Kirsty a television interview, Tennant's betrayed reaction was fantastic.

Really enjoyed, 8/10.

Warning: Spoilers
The Politician's Wife is very thought provoking viewing from England.

It's not for everyone. If you're into wallowing in TV shows with politicians swearing every second beat then stay away please. Anyway, one scene which impressed me was when Freya Hoynes (Emily Watson) coveted the Prime Minister's chair in the cabinet room. I don't know how much rehearsal Emily did for it, but that alone was worth a clutch of acting awards.

Perhaps The Politician's Husband can be rebooted with the Politicians played by acclaimed English actor Danny Dyer.

Emily Watson is Nothing Less Than Breathtakingly Magificent

It is clear from the start of this series that Emily Watson is about to set our television screens afire with a performance unlike anything ever seen in broadcasting history. Her portrait of Freya is of such eloquence, of such intricate beauty, that it will stun audiences senseless with its sheer power. Watson's acclaimed smoldering sensuality seems to be even more intensely moving than usual here and she uses it to fantastic affect, with her co-star as well as the viewer. Unfortunately, the chemistry is simply not there with Tenant and it would take a much finer actor to ignite the passions in the same fashion as Emily Watson. Her performance will be remembered for all time as one of the most magnificent ever to engross audiences in any forum and it is obvious she has even more gifts she has not yet even accessed as yet. She seems to feel, perhaps modestly, that some of the naked power of this performance must be held back, contained so as not to overwhelm David Tenant's presence in this piece. There is one scene, for instance, where Tenant simply places a shoe on Watson's foot and it may be one of the most openly sexually intense moments ever filmed due the look in Watson's eyes and the way Tenant seems to, in actual reality, melt before them. Often, Watson uses her body as a great musician uses a fine instrument and this is a perfect example of that artistry. It is a scene no one who sees it will ever forget, the heat emanating from deep within her soul and unrelenting in its searing, nuclear-like radiation. If Watson ever decides to unleash her full power as an actor, it may well be more than any audience can bear. For the time being, viewers will be pummeled dazedly by her incredible talent as demonstrated in the unbelievable, stunningly beautiful work she does in this otherwise mundane production. Once what she achieves in this series reaches the shores of America, the thunder of applause will echo across the Atlantic as Americans rise as one in uncontrollable adoration of Emily Watson in another of her greatest screen triumphs.
