First episode that brought tears to my eyes.

Warning: Spoilers
The Ellinghams are packing the house, selling items to support at sea rescue boats, when a man with an injured arm arrives at the surgery for help. Doc agrees to see him. He fixes the issue and then joins Louisa to pack up the children's room. In the meantime, the town has banded together to throw the Ellinghams a goodbye party.

Sally Tishell is being helped by Ruth to let go of the Doc. Meantime, Chicken the dog has been found to be missing, much to James distress. Doc decided to print up missing posters which he convinces Joe Penhale to post around town.

Doc gets a call from the man with the injured arm, who has accidentally managed to stick himself with the injector needle he had been inoculating his cows with. Doc finds out where he lives and drives out to what was his Aunt Joan's farmhouse.

Later, the farmer says he has seen Chicken the dog running around the farm. Doc and Louisa see Chicken out in a field and try to call him back only to have to escape the cows as they run towards them. When jumping over a stone wall that has barbed wire topping it, Doc is caught, ripping the vein in his right arm. By the time this all resolved in the last 10 minutes of the airing, my eyes were filled with tears. It was absolutely stunning.

A great episode to end the last series of the show.

A perfect ending
nmottel11 December 2022
Unfotunately for me IMDB insists on a required 600 characters to post a review. If allowed I would write but one...perfect. It is the last full day for the Ellinghams in Port Wenn and of course things don't go smoothly. A new resident to Port Wenn needs tending first in the surgery then at his new farm which is Aunt Joan's former farm. Chicken the dog goes missing, Mrs. Tischell is beside herself with Martin's leaving, Ruth butts in trying to help, and the village is throwing a huge farewell party for the Ellinghams. I was in tears the final few minutes of the show and downright sobbing by the end scene. What a wonderful show that will be greatly missed. PERFECT.

Beautifully Concluded

I thought this last season had some bumps. The stories were rather unimaginative and repetitive. But after ten seasons, things get closed out with this satisfying conclusion. The Doc is really ugly during the last day as they sell off some of their stuff, the movers on their way. A new man is introduced who comes with a dislocated shoulder. He will become the catalyst to what eventually happens. Mrs. Tichell goes bananas. She actually has a shrine to the Doc. The inciting incident is the disappearance of Chicken, the pet dog. Because James loves the dog so much, Martin and Louisa set out for Martin's late aunt's farm where the new guy now lives. He has spotted the dog. What ensues I will not say, but don't miss this great episode.

The penultimate show to the long-running series.

The Martins have decided...they are definitely moving to London. As a result, much of this episode revolves around their moving and the Doc closing up his practice. Part of this involves treating a few more patients...and one of them calls Doc Martin away just before their goodbye party can begin.

Much of the episode is about Sal, the pharmacist who is unhealthily fixated on the Doctor. Because detaching from him will be difficult, Martin's aunt works with this lady to help her accept the inevitable.

This is a very good episode and does a good job of wrapping things up and showing the Martins' decision to leave...or, possibly not.

I assume it's a coincidence, but the title of this penultimate episode of "Doc Martin" is also that of a song by ABBA.
