Jane Powell was a huge singing star with MGM in the 1950s. However, when musicals began to lose their appeal, Miss Powell found herself unemployed and looking for work. Unfortunately, one of her attempts at a comeback was this turkey...a very badly written TV pilot that could have worked but didn't .
When the show begins, K.C. (Powell) has just married Professor Edwards (Russell Johnson) after a two-day courtship!! While you know that moving from the life of a famous singer to the Professor's wife might be tough, it's made much tougher because the professors and her husband in particular are all idiots. They insult her and make her welcome very short-lived...and Edwards manages to do the worst possible job of supporting his wife. Can they manage to make this misguided marriage work after all??
So, apparently although college professors are smart, they ALL are socially inept and insulting idiots...or so the show would have you believe. Talk about bad writing. In fact, the only character who I liked and who was written well was played by Harriett MacGibbon...the woman who soon after played Mrs. Drysdale on "The Beverly Hillbillies". Overall, a poorly written show which delivered no laughs...which is a serious problem for a sit-com! I can see exactly why the networks didn't pick up this misguided little show.
