Best episode yet!
samsoknite29 March 2013
I've been disappointed by the way this season started off and all the little changes they've made that at least I, and maybe a few of you, felt like the magic was missing.

After seeing 100 Clues I can honestly say that this was the best episode yet and am very much thrilled about the upcoming possibilities of the season including next week's episode. Over the last few episodes my main complaint was the lack of investigation -- everything was solved at the end with no apparent connection to the rest of the episode -- but I can safely say that while this one wasn't a typical case it was by far a brilliant enough episode filled with lots of humor, references to pop culture, and while there are a few things I could pick at, I think it's best to just leave it at what it is; a job well done.

psych.. the clue episode

So this episode seems to be a love or hate episode, and thats because it completely based on the 1985 movie "Clue".

The simple fact is if you have never seen that movie, you will probably think this is rubbish and it will leave you wondering what is going on, why is it such a crazy episode.

Clue happens to be one of my favourite films and is Murder by Death, which is also referenced in this episode.

Yes its a totally silly episode played 100 percent for laughs but it was there 100th episode and they just appear to go for it. I have just watched it again on a box set and it was an extended version with extra endings much like the Clue film.

Definitely one of the best 5 episodes for me

Fav episode!!

Clue is my all-time favorite movie and game, and Psych is my favorite show so I had high expectations going into this episode. I believe they knocked it out of the park. The number of references to Clue are so many you can't even count them all!! To name a few (w/o spoilers) the singing telegram, the drive up to the house, gus stepping in animal poop, the actress who played Miss Scarlett wearing a red dress/lipstick/nails, the host initially being unknown, the first 3 non-Psych characters to arrive are all original actors of Clue, the chandelier, splitting up to search the house. But I also love the added Psych flavor.

Blech... Under-Cooked and Disappointing

As a big fan of the Clue movie (and of Psych, of course) this episode should be one of my favorites, most of the actors reprising their roles in the Psych universe for a special 100th episode with nothing but references should have been a match made in heaven... but I felt this episode was a tad off.

I won't lie, there are defiantly jokes that work and references that work, but it seems as though everything was just either poorly paced or just there for the sake of attempting to tie it all together. The first major blow was defiantly the fact that it takes a shocking 15- 20 minutes to even get to the murder (Which is half the episode). The reason why it takes 15-20 minutes is because they focused a bit too much on the pre-house segments. The opening flashback, while required for the plot defiantly, went on way too long and could have been quickly cut down to 1 minute or so instead of the nearly 3 minutes it takes. The first 20 minutes are very slow paced and some of the jokes just don't hit (The showtune while cute ended on a zinger that leaves me groaning more than laughing)

The second half moves way too fast though. As soon as the murder happens it is all go and no breaks which leads to a disjointed feeling. One moment they are interviewing the characters and the next they say that they got some info against all of them, but they never show any of it because it goes by too fast.

I feel as though with all of these characters they have to introduce and give motive they simply didn't have enough time or just didn't refine the script enough. Then we have the ending which, for a normal episode would come with about 6-7 minutes left with the last bit being a bit more of the characters explaining more about the culprit or something comedic happening, however in this episode directly after the culprit is caught we get 2 more zingers (both pretty funny and nice references) and then it just ends.

For the special 100th episode it was really messy and should have spent a bit more time cooking. Extending it past its 42 minute run time would have greatly helped, along with more cleaver jokes I feel...

Worst episode yet!
mshubes8 October 2021
I have enjoyed the lightheartedness of the show. But THIS episode was way over the top silly. First half was okay, but then it just got ridiculous and not fun anymore. So far, this is the WORST episode. Second worst was also from this season (filming big foot). Not wild about the direction this show is going and wondering if this is why it lasted only one more season?
