- Lincoln decides to tap out of his brotherly duties and go on a vacation. Clyde steps in to take on Lincoln's role in the family, at first everything goes great, until tides turn and Clyde has to call on Lincoln for help.
- As Lincoln and Clyde discuss the plans for their weekend sleepover, Lincoln decides to dismiss the idea of attending because he needs a vacation from the chaos and craziness of his family. As Lincoln prepares to pack up and leave, he finds himself caught in the middle of several of his family's issues that require his aid. He explains to Clyde that fulfilling his niche is no easy task, and trying to keep the family on track is harder than he makes it look. While he explains this, he mentions his self-entitled nickname, "the man with the plan," which prompts Clyde to realize that he is also "a man who makes plans." The idea intrigues Lincoln, and he challenges Clyde to take his place in the family while he is out for the weekend. Clyde accepts the offer, and Lincoln leaves for his vacation, secretly not trusting Clyde to perform his duties in the same way he would by himself. The next day, Clyde is ready to fulfill Lincoln's niche as the only boy in the house in his friend's place. His first task is dealing with Lynn, who has a sports game coming up and cannot stop trash-talking wherever she goes. Her coach has warned her to cease trash-talking about the other teams. Clyde advises her to use class talk in place of trash talk, which he envisions as a means of knocking the opposing team's players off their game with toxic positivity. His next task is dealing with Luna, who has promised to post a hit song on a music-sharing platform but is faced with writer's block and cannot think of any lyrics for her song. Clyde advises Luna to find the inspiration for her song in a conflict since his father's writing teacher always says that great writing stems from a great conflict. When Luna cannot think of any recent conflicts that happened in her life, Clyde leaves to use the bathroom. On the way, he runs into Mrs. Loud. Upon the encounter, he tells her about how Luna is disorganized, refuses to clean up her room under the assumption that her mother will clean it up for her, and always neglects to put the cap back on the toothpaste tube. This information triggers Mrs. Loud, and she chews out her daughter for being so disorganized and not cleaning up as she expects of her. Having introduced a conflict into Luna's life, Clyde sees the situation as the opportunity for her to finally break free from her writer's block and write a masterpiece song. Clyde's next task is helping out Leni, who has been trying to study for her upcoming exam, but has not been able to learn any of the material due to her new boyfriend, Chase, always getting distracted by her father. Over the past few weeks, Mr. Loud had built a relationship with Chase. The bond-developing process made their relationship so strong that it came to the point where they had practically become best friends, and they would never want to say goodbye. Clyde advises Leni to be honest to Chase and speak to him directly so he can realize how much time he has wasted by goofing around with Mr. Loud. Leni takes the advice, and Clyde decides to check in with Lincoln now that he has handled three tasks. However, during his conversation with Lincoln, Clyde gets called out by Luna, and he hangs up before leaving to investigate. When Clyde arrives, it turns out that his methods of curing Luna's writer's block did not end in the way he had expected; the conflict Clyde introduced drove Luna to write a song about begging her mother to put the cap back on the toothpaste tube, which everybody deemed to be lame. Frustrated by the results of his suggestions, Luna dismisses Clyde at once. Just then, Clyde gets called out by Leni, and he leaves to investigate what has happened this time. When Clyde arrives to see what has happened to Leni, it turns out that his advice about speaking to Chase directly with honesty resulted in him breaking up with Leni and terminating his friendship with her father. Clyde is now embarrassed at the realization that he has tried to help Lincoln's family, but his solutions have only caused three people to become upset because of him, and he leaves the house to reflect on his mistakes. Suddenly, a delivery service arrives at the house, carrying everything Lincoln decided to order before he left for vacation. After being told that the delivery worker bringing the items has received instructions to hoist everything up to the attic with a pulley system, Clyde becomes suspicious and packs himself inside the basket with the order inside. Lincoln hoists his order up to the attic using the pulley system, and immediately, Clyde bursts out and tries to find out what has been going on the whole time since Lincoln told him the day before that he was going to his aunt's cabin for the weekend. Exposed, Lincoln admits that any time he needs a break from his family, he lies about going to his aunt's cabin when he instead hides away from them in the attic. He then admits that he wished Clyde would fail at his job, and his wish came true. However, he also admits that he cannot do what he normally does without Clyde's help, so they both leave and brainstorm how to resolve the conflicts that Clyde has created. They assess that Leni, Chase, and Mr. Loud are all caught in a love triangle, and they need to introduce a fourth person into the mix to turn the love triangle into a love square. Clyde also mentions that they need to think of a new song idea for Luna to improve her reputation; however, Lincoln dismisses that idea because his current focus is on resolving the love triangle. Suddenly, he gets the idea to make her write a song about a love triangle, which proves effective later on. Meanwhile, Clyde finds the perfect fourth person to introduce to turn the love triangle into a square, and later on, they bring Chase back into the house. Chase hooks back up with Leni, and the fourth person that Clyde found earlier, Chase's father by the same name as his son, hooks up with Mr. Loud. Suddenly, Mrs. Loud calls out Luna's name, and Lincoln quickly realizes they have not cleaned Luna's room. However, Clyde admits that he already cleaned it by himself, and it turns out to have effectively resolved the conflict he introduced to Luna in the first place. As the boys celebrate their victory, Lynn quickly calls out Clyde because his suggestion about using class talk instead of trash talk did not help her team to win the game, prompting them both to retreat to the attic.
