- Lincoln goes on the quest to give Charlie the perfect gift to remember him by Lincoln and his family put all of their talents on the line for the first ever Loud-a-palooza to save Flip's Food and Fuel.
- Lincoln reads a bedtime story to Lily about how he met his crush, Charlie. When they first met, Lincoln had feelings for Charlie, who was attracted to another person named Rusty. Lincoln was eventually able to win Charlie's heart, but then one day, Charlie had some news that shocked Lincoln. She was moving back to her original home in Tennessee, and Lincoln needed some way to prevent her from completely forgetting about him. Cut to the inside of the story. Lincoln finds the exact thing he wants to give Charlie as a remembrance gift: a priceless emerald known to him as the "Everlasting Emerald," sold at the local gas station/convenience store, Flip's Food & Fuel. However, when Lincoln attempts to buy the emerald, the store's owner and only cashier, Flip, charges him $57,000 because he has gone into debt and needs some way to prevent his store from going out of business. However, it isn't long before Flip identifies Lincoln as the only person who can help drive him out of debt and agrees to give him the Everlasting Emerald for free in exchange for helping him escape debt. Lincoln agrees to the offer, which he later discovers is supposed to have some of his other family members involved. At Lincoln's house that day, Flip tells the Loud parents about how his brother, Walter, is coming to town for dinner later that day, and the first thing they should know about him is that over the years, Walter has been receiving letters written by Flip to donate him some money, which ended up being the funds to keep Flip's store afloat. In his letters, Flip has fibbed that he was married to Mrs. Loud and raised five children with her (since he thinks raising eleven, the total amount of children she ended up having, is very irresponsible) because he feared that if Walter found out about the real reason his brother needed the money, then he would bulldoze his store into a parking lot. He must ensure that Walter believes everything he wrote about in the letters, or else his store will be permanently out of business. The Loud parents agree to help Flip, but the job turns out to be more complicated than it looks. Flip does not know the Loud family as well as he thinks, so he gets the kids' names wrong and forces them to switch their identities with those whose names he identifies them by. He then locks Mr. Loud in the basement to prevent Walter from finding out about him. Later that day, Walter arrives for dinner, and the Loud family struggles to make their charade convincing enough so that Walter will not find out it's all fake. Soon, Luna, Luan, Lynn, and Lola all arrive home, unaware of the charade, and Lincoln forces them to stay in the basement to prevent the truth from unraveling in front of Walter. Soon after Lincoln locks them inside the basement with their father, the other family members and Flip eat dinner with Walter. The smell of the food reaches the cellar through the vents. By the time Mr. Loud smells it, he gets driven to envy because he cooked the dinner the others are eating for Flip and now wants to eat it but cannot while trapped inside the basement, and he eventually reaches his breaking point. By then, he escapes the basement through a window and disguises himself as a handyman named "Kristoff Bolschwarzenegger, German Shepherd von Tropp." Just as Walter is about to leave, he barges into the dining room and introduces himself. Walter is flabbergasted because Flip never mentioned having a handyman in his letters. As Flip and Mr. Loud try to justify the situation, they make it more complicated. As this happens, the girls in the basement slowly become starved because they are locked inside it while everyone else is eating dinner above them. They start to eat anything they can find, and before long, they incite violence against each other in an "every man for himself"-type situation. Soon, Walter prepares to leave. However, as everybody says their goodbyes, Walter decides to stay at "Flip's" house another day because he has no other plans for the weekend, further complicating the situation for everyone else. Hearing that Walter is staying for another day alarms the girls in the basement because they are now stuck down there until then, and Lola decides to form a survivalist mob with her companions. Suddenly, Lincoln gets a phone call from Charlie, during which he hears the shocking news that she is moving back to Tennessee that night, reducing his time to bring the Everlasting Emerald to her even further than before. Meanwhile, outside the story, Lincoln stops reading the book, leaving Lily in extreme suspense concerning what will happen next.
