A great insight into the visual side of Islam
benm-4175126 August 2018
For non-Muslims, The Hidden Art of Islam presents great insight into the way that Muslim faith has interacted with visual art and visual representations of the faith. A major element of the documentary is the tension between the often-observed tenet of Islam that humans and God shall not be represented in art, and the desire to illustrate important figures which sometimes overrides this rule. It gives insight into an aspect of the Islamic World that is often overlooked for outsiders, and also reminds use that religion is always subject to interpretations and influences from other aspects of culture and identity.
