Great movie!

I had the pleasure of attending the premier of "The One Who Loves You". What a beautifully well done film, and without a Hollywood mega-budget. A limited release film that speaks to most of us. Very charming and poignant! Gloria is chasing her dream in spite of opposition from those that sold their dreams for security. She receives help along the way from those she meets and the story unfolds and ends just as it should. I really enjoyed the cinematography and seeing my home town in a film is always a treat. The acting was great, especially the charisma between the two main characters. The plot was fun and played out to a beautiful ending. This film is worth watching at least once.

Lovely and lovable film!

Very impressive accomplishment for first time director Katheryn Grant, who also performed the leading role with magnificent persuasion. Her role (hard to play) is of an ingénue who has no understanding of the corrupt and harsh world of the music industry. Yet, despite the manipulations of her seducer, she is inspired her to continue her singing efforts. I saw the film at the SENE film festival in Providence, where she won as best Director, and the film also won honorable mention. The period's ambiance, the costumes, the talented co-actors were all superbly cast. The storyline has unexpected twists and when all is combined, it creates an emotionally satisfying, uplifting film that touches on universal truths.

What an Indy film is meant to be...

This is a classic case of less = more. If you are looking for perfection, Independent Film is probably not for you. However, "The One Who Loves You" is a prime example of what can be accomplished when a group of talented, obviously passionate and determined people come together to tell a story… Even if they don't have a bag full of cash. More than the sum of its parts, this film captures the essence of what film should be. As a production it has its high and lows, not unlike any other film regardless of budget. In the end though, it manages to succeed beautifully where many fail… Getting out of its own way to tell the story. Well done… WELL. DONE.

Check out this film!

The passion for filmmaking is palpable in Katharyn Grant's beautifully shot, superbly acted and deftly designed, "THE ONE WHO LOVES YOU".

I had the privilege of screening this film at the 15th annual BARE BONES INTERNATIONAL FILM & MUSIC FESTIVAL where Grant took home awards for Best Period Costume & Production Design and the CLU GULLAGER award for best actor.

Set in the south in the 1970's, THE ONE WHO LOVES YOU, is the story of a young woman pursuing her dream of becoming a musician despite the obstacles in front of her. The painstaking detail with which the film is crafted, heart and soul oozing from every frame, combined with an outstanding soundtrack make it easy to understand why this indie already has ten festivals under it's belt and more on the way. Bravo!

Amazing!

Just watched The One Who Loves You last night and all I can say is amazing! The story was incredible and had elements of romance, humor, patience, determination and much more. I loved how all of the cars, attire, houses and other scene elements were correct for the time period. I cannot imagine all the effort and frustration that must have gone into making that happen. The film flowed very well with no lulls or slow areas that so many big budget films have these days. Character development was clear and went far enough without going overboard with too much information or details. I cannot say enough about this movie, I thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait to see it again. I am also looking forward to future endeavors by the very talented Katharyn Grant.

Freaking Great

Beautiful! The colors are gorgeous, the characters and situations are real, and the performances are brilliantly unique. I saw an advanced screener but am hoping to see it in a theater to appreciate the colors. It's a wonderful story for anybody who needs faith in what they're doing. The One Who Loves You gives us an example of a woman who pushes through the hardest type of adversity. Not that of rejection from the outside but from the inside - and the betrayals of those we thought loved us. She smiles (sadly) through it all and tries one more time each time she ought to quit. The story is nuanced and respects the audience. Katharyn Grant knocked it out of the park. Must see!

Wonderful film!

I saw this film at the Beaufort International Film Festival where it won as Best Feature. Charming, funny, sad, above all original. Great cast and music. Katharyn Grant, is fantastic in the role of a woman who returns home to the south after failing to make it at a singer in New York City. Her family, her boring job and her lack of career all combine to make for a miserable time of it but then life intervenes in the unlikeliest of men. Don't want to be a spoiler, but you probably couldn't guess the rest of the story as it veers from the predictable into the original. Why these reviews have to be 10 lines, and I haven't had my coffee yet, so I apologize for the rambling. Just go see this movie!
