The deer carcass was actually just a deer skin rug and fake deer head mask. The costume was actually worn by David Grant, the assistant camera operator. Grant was unaware that the scene would involve nudity until it was already shot.
Due to a faulty magazine, a third of the film was partially exposed. As a result, all scenes shot within the Havorka family home had to be cropped to remove the error. Therefore, only about half the film is presented with the originally intended framing.
