The dogs crushed it, the humans were the worst
mattwhitesax26 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The real Christmas miracle is that someone actually wrote this script, someone else approved it, a budget was created, and cast and crews were assembled to make it happen. So... the script is about some ambiguous "American Indian" tale of a "handsome fellow" or something that is claimed to parallel the Santa mythos in some Yungian archetypal way (I'm not kidding). Put some seriously bad actors portraying a family where the father rings his glass at dinner to announce he's talking his wife on their first date in ten years. Look, I'm not making this up. But there are adorable golden retrievers. And they are totally cute and run full speed everywhere and get into adventures and get lost and one gets super sick and you really worry about him and they are so fuzzy oh my gosh. So... the dogs get 10/10, the almost unfathomably lame humans dropped the ball big time. The only ones that got it right were the ones filming the doggos.

Cute...

Cute, even Bailey and all the other animals on the farm don't move their mouths when they talk, it must be telepathy ... Even cuter than the previous one, which was kind of tasteless, Santa Claus and the kids helped, but over time it gets boring and uninteresting ...

Cute Story if you can get past the terrible acting
candiceloves22 November 2012
Bought this because my 3 year old loves the live animal children's movies. The overall story is cute enough but only if you can stomach the terrible, forced acting by these 'actors'. My son was easily bored when it came to the human only scenes. The adults with their rigid, unnatural dialog and lack of chemistry all the way down to the little girl with the lisp, who was forced, awkward, unenjoyable and who's character made no sense.

The character of Truman was well played although the actor Trey Bumpass seemed bored half the time, his chemistry with Bailey was very sweet and enjoyable to watch. I would love to see him in something more challenging, he seems to have the natural talent ability and looks for TV and film. If it weren't for him saving the film, I'd consider it a massive flop and whoever was in charge of casting should be fired.

Overall, I wish I hadn't wasted my money on this DVD. I should have waited for Santa Paws 2 because at least there, the acting isn't forced. It makes me wonder if this was a production put one of those unqualified acting schools that gives work to their actors only if they pay for involvement.

But if you are able to see past forced, terrible acting, then by all means buy it.

Great Family Movie, lots of laughs
briangalyean4 December 2014
This movie is for the whole family!

This is a wholesome story about two dogs, Duke and Bailey. When Mom and Dad, Truman and Abbi lose the pups, thats when everything gets wild. It is Christmas time when they become separated from their family and search for their way back home. The Family is looking for the dogs and the dogs are looking to find their way back. This is a cute family movie with a message of giving. Brother and sister learn how to give of ones self and share. The dogs learn that they are loved and find their way home. Mom and Dad are a great example of parents. Grandma and Grandpa make and appearance in the film and Grandpa gives a lesson to Truman on the back porch. All in all the film is good.

A little gem
kkross9916 December 2012
After watching a bunch of holiday movies with my kids, I was so pleasantly surprised to come across this one. It is such a unique little Christmas movie with such a good meaning. It has a heartfelt and spiritual message, which I loved, but it really wasn't heavy handed. My kids had fun watching it - they never got bored. And that was great. In fact, they got so wrapped up in the story, and I have to admit, I did, too. The dogs were so cute and did such a good job. The characters were funny, the acting was good, it looked great, and it really did move along well. It wasn't a big budget movie, but it was still well done. Sweet story. Beautifully shot. Very endearing little film. And it will definitely put you in a good mood!
