Ramsay visits a tiny grubby little Mexican restaurant run by Greg Russell and his soon-to-be ex-wife Mery, who barely shows up and is busy spending his money outside the marriage. The quality of the food is down, and Greg is sad because his wife is always out visiting a sick friend. Zocalo restaurant is going down the tubes fast because Greg cannot handle it on his own.
What was once just a plain gold digger is now middle aged with an itch that husband Greg cannot scratch. Greg needs his wife's support, but Mery tells Ramsay that she does not feel love anymore. She just wants out, and she cannot stand being at Zocalo. As she says, "the kitchen is always hot."
Some of these episodes of Kitchen Nightmares are mostly about marriage counseling, and have little to do with running a restaurant. It seemed like in Season 5 to the end (season 7), Ramsay was spending a lot more time giving relationship advice instead of just cooking food.
