- Thirty year old Lasia is a party girl who doesn't deny herself those pleasures. Although responsible in that she doesn't drink and drive, her habit of taking cabs to and from where she needs to get to, sometimes to pick up her car from the bar, adds up to a lot of money. A travel agent, she loves to travel and spends even more when on her trips. If it's someone or a company which she owes, she ignores them. Her father John is co-named on one of her credit cards, the collections company which is now phoning him for the money Lasia spent on it and won't pay back. Lasia lives by herself in her grandparents' house, where she is supposed to pay rent, but her parents usually forgo her paying while additionally picking up the tab for utilities and other such services since Lasia won't. She was already struggling financially, but recently suffered a pay cut on a job she's knows is a dead end. Lasia is unhappy, knows she's floundering in life, and has $31,000 of consumer debt to show for it. Gail wants Lasia to get a sense of independence, most specifically reviewing her housing situation and how that will change even if she decides to stay in the house. Gail sends Lasia to a career counselor to get her on a path to work fulfillment. And Lasia has to find less expensive alternatives to partying to have fun.—Huggo
