A short documentary that makes a collage of images of Andrei Tarkovsky films (all seven, from "Ivan's Childhood" to "The Sacrfice") along with
interviews he gave to a documentary where he discusses the importance of art and cinema, the artist role in society and life, and what he considers important
as an artist. If I'm not mistaken the interview is from "Voyage in Time" (yet to be seen, but I caught some glimpses here and there).
Basically it's a small collage of moments with several frames from his films occupying and blocking the clip with his thoughts about art and cinema,
and they keep moving from one side to the other, many of the classic and unforgettable moments from his works of art, and it becomes a summary of his best
quotes from the 1983 documentary. It was a strange mosaic formed, and the best way this could be used was showing the pictures each scene goes by without
showing three of four at the same time, the audio from the documentary alone and new captions to translate it. It's interested the way it was edited but it can
also be very chaotic and visually messy.
As for his meditaton on art and the things that interest him, maybe the documentary - shot while he was filming "Nostalghia" - will offer a more complete
series of thoughts and reflections, rather than what's edited here. He was a highly respected artist, very articulate and a master of his craft, and it's
always fascinating to hear him speak, sharing his knowledge of cinema and art to the world. It's all good to see but it's a very summarized tribute to the
genius filmmaker. 8/10.
