Having learned from Cavendish that the murderer is likely a former member of the SOE, Malcolm Crowley, Susan heads to the mental hospital where he was once treated. The place is virtually deserted with the only person there claiming to be a psychiatrist but Susan soon realizes she has come face to face with killer but nonetheless manages to get away from him. Susan's attempt to inform Deputy Commissioner Wainwright of their findings gets her a stern rebuke for interfering and the women realize it's up to them to ensure justice is done. They manage to identify the woman who died while trapped in the rubble with Crowley as Julie Oakwood, his first victim. The killer is quite clever however and sets a trap for Susan.
