Just watched the first show in the series and was horrified!
The bus dwelling wife is lazy, slovenly and has no desire to prepare her brood of children for their futures! Her children are uneducated and unmotivated and need direction In their lives. When they were questioned by the other wife, they expressed a desire to learn and to achieve and actually enjoyed school time. How can an eight year old not count to two? It seems the older children can't stand the bus life and remarked that their bedding hadn't been washed for over a year and the bus hadn't been cleaned in eight years!
Children need to thrive on new and exciting things and learning all that they can. They are like sponges and will soak up everything presented to them. The aimless and boring life they are currently leading is mind numbing. The father seemed keen to teach the children and to start earning money for the family.
Whilst living in Nimbin for a year, I asked many young teens working in the town, what they'd like to do when they grew up and surprisingly, the answers were accountant, lawyer, dentist, business owner, etc. They were all aspirational but had a good education behind them, so they could all dream big and realise their dreams. Having children and not providing them with an education, a clean environment, clean clothes and a clean bed to sleep in, is child abuse. I hope the bus wife has had a chance to reflect on all that she's learnt during the swap and changed her ways. She clearly loves her children but MUST realise they need direction, boundaries and education!
I wish all concerned, a bright future and hope the Drill-sergeant husband learns to "put a sock in it" and stop yelling orders at his children and start treating them like humans and not soldiers. Let's hope all the children don't grow up to be resentful of their parents rules or lack there of and flee !!!
