The Beginning of the End

Warning: Spoilers
On this episode, the battle takes a turn for the worst. Begins with Choji, Kiba among others, being told by Katsuyu about what's happening and Naruto's wishes. Hinata sees eveything with her Byakugan, and attempts to go to the battlefield, but her bodyguard tells her not to, she would bother Naruto interrupting the fight. She can't help him. Then, Inoichi, Ino and their group reaches Shikamaru and his father. They discuss the discoverings and Shizune's death. To honor her, they decide to find the real Pain. During the talk, Inoichi realizes that in Amegakure, the rumours said that Pain lived in the higher tower, the same place where the bodies were taken (as he saw on the memory of the captured shinobi). So he guesses that the real one must be on a high spot around Konoha, to send the chakra and control the bodies. So they agree to start their search quickly. In the meantime, Naruto and the toads plan their next move. He can't use more than three clones in the fight to not disturb the one gathering natural energy in Mount Myoboku. So the toads decide to prepare their gen jutsu. While Fukasaku and Shima do this, Naruto is trapped by the two Pains. The absorber holds him strongly from his back, and starts draining all his chakra, as Tendo Pain watches, he needs him alive. But Naruto has an idea, he thinks it's perfect, he only needs to stay quiet, and start concentrating more natural energy. Tendo Pain thinks that he gave up, but eventually, the Pain absorber starts to inflate like a toad. He becomes a stone statue, later broken by Naruto. Turns out that he absorbed so much natural energy that he couldn't control it, and became a statue like the ones on Mount Myoboku. Naruto's strategy was well planned, now remains just Tendo Pain. Still, he ends up exhausted, and Pain takes the opportunity. And just when Fukasaku and Shima are ready for the gen jutsu, the enemy uses his power to atract him and stab him. Fukasaku falls dead (Shima is left stunned and cries), and Naruto isn't able to stop him. Then, Pain strikes down Naruto, and starts a conversation about peace. They both want peace but with their own opinions. Naruto says he will destroy him and then being peace to the shinobi world. But Pain questions this, as his friends in Amegakure will revenge him. He explains that the wars left his village in ruins and hunger, and Konoha was as responsible as the other villages. The hate cycle generates from there, they look justice but is just a hidden revenge. Once it becomes a revenge, the hurt decide to take their own revenge. Konoha is not the only country who wants revenge. Pain asks him what's his plan to stop that cycle, but Naruto simply doesn't know. Nagato, while being finally shown in his hideout along Konan, tells that he will use all the Bijuus to create a weapon able to destroy a country, just like he destroyed the village. That way, fear will spread on people, and there will be a period of peace. When new generations arrive and lose that fear, the weapon will be used again by a village. And so, the cycle of peaceful periods will follow. Naruto knows that would be a big lie, not true peace, but Nagato says that shinobi will never understand each other, the past proves that. He thinks that there's no other way to get peace. In the hideout, Nagato coughs, and Konan tells he used to much chakra, to not put more effort. He is shown to be thin, and tied to a machine, seemingly that's how he survives.

The episode started well overall. The way Rakido Pain (the absorber) was defeated was great. Naruto once again showed his intelligence, the ability to think fast on a battle, like his father did. But the rest just fell apart. Tendo Pain defeated Fukasaku and Naruto too easily. In less than a few seconds, he used his atraction power and just like that. Looks like all what happened before was a joke. Pain knew about the toads gen jutsu, but still, they could have some something else. This turn out was too abrupt. Naruto had so many tricks, ideas, what happened? Also, given this, the five second interval it's a bummer. Pain is like a battery or a clock then. What's the point? The whole talk was well written, so much, that Naruto can't get any answer soon. This still doesn't erase the fact that Nagato lost his mind. The past can't predict the future. And if there's a cycle of hate, there's also a cycle of love. Those are human emotions, especially in countries where war is common. It's like questioning the reality of the real world. The storyline shouldn't get so deep into phylosophical questions. In any case, Naruto should find a way to help Amegakure or the villages destroyed. He wants to be Hokage after all. Still, no one can guess the future, or promise that wars will end. That's why, the plotline is going down. And even more for what Hinata is going to do next. Here, she was eager to intervene. Why Katsuyu had to be everyhwere but not close to her? Strange moments arrive. Incoherent decisions once again. The best part of the episode was Inoichi's reasoning then. He looked smarter than Shikamaru here.
