Artie tells Kitty he's depressed because he's been accepted by the Brooklyn Film Academy but he is not going without explains the reason.
Kurt is days away from the appointment where Burt will find out if his cancer treatment has worked. He returns to McKinley and reunites with his old friends. This leads to Kitty leading a performance of "Signed, Sealed, Delivered." Mercedes, who is back home filming a video for her new album, has been brought in as a vocal coach.
Kitty tells Artie she thinks he's be amazing in film school.
Kurt has coffee with Blaine, Mike and Mercedes. Mercedes is working on ideas for her video. The topic of Blaine and Kurt's relationship comes up.
Several of the NYADA students tell Rachel they're aware of her callback via Broadway chatrooms. They thinks she better keep the information away from Cassie, as students are supposed to have a teacher sign off on such activities. The two run to Cassie and tell her the news.
Mercedes tells the kids she thinks the reason they lost at regionals was fear. For example she thinks Marley needs to work on her runs. Mercedes leads them in "Superstition."
Mercedes and Mike want Jake to be their featured dancer. She also want him in her video.
The doctor tells Burt the tumor is gone. He's in remission. The family embraces in joy.
Kurt has Burt join him in the choir room. He dedicates a performance of "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" to his father.
Cassie confronts Rachel about her interview. Cassie plans on attending, with the goal of watching her choke. She's also moved up her difficult dance midterm to the following morning.
Mike performs a dancing/singing duo with Jake to "I Wish."
Mercedes tells Mike and Kurt a disagreement over how much skin she doesn't want to show in the art for her CD cover has caused a delay. She worried her look will never make people in the industry happy.
Artie returns home to find Kitty talking to his mother about his acceptance. He hadn't told his mother yet. After Kitty leaves he tells his mother he's afraid to go to New York. He doesn't want to leave her alone, but she insists that he follow his dream.
Cassie surprises Rachel by bringing other students together to support her through the midterm and get her ready for the audition. They perform "Uptight (Everything's Alright)."
Mercedes tells the Glee kids to be ready for how tough the industry can be. She emphasizes the importance of doing things you own way. She's planning to sell her albums herself. This leads to "Higher Ground."
Blaine gives Burt a rainbow pin to wear at work to show his support for same-sex marriage. He then asks for his permission to ask Kurt to marry him. Burt thinks he and Kurt are too young. He thinks at this point Blaine is more interested in marrying an idea than a person.
Rachel gives Cassie a gift as a way to thank her for everything she's done for her throughout the year. Cassie says she's hard on Rachel because she thinks she's special. Cassie tells Rachel she thinks she'll get the part.
Blaine pauses before asking Kurt if he'll stick around for regionals.
The episode ends with Artie leading them in "For Once In My Life."
