- An injury prone castaway incurs a fresh battle wound during an intense Immunity Challenge.
- Previously on 'Survivor': Jeff Kent led the charge at Kalabaw against Jonathan, but he found a hidden immunity idol. At Tandang, Lisa continued to hide her TV star identity. RC found a clue to the hidden immunity idol and told Abi-Maria, who suddenly turned on RC and told her she'd be "dead" if she betrays Abi. Matsing lost the immunity challenge for the second consecutive time, which Russell took badly. Angie and Malcolm were targeted because they're too close, but Roxy couldn't make her case well enough to save herself.
Back at Matsing: Angie is still reeling from what she referred to as Roxy's explosion. Denise tries to convince Angie that Roxy was just trying to protect herself. Russell tries to stay optimistic, by urging the remaining tribe mates to stick together. But he tells us that he still believes Angie and Malcolm's connection is a strong one, and it could put him on the outside if Denise decides to side with them.
Tandang: RC and Abi lay on the beach and Abi is complaining about her knee. RC wants to find the idol. RC tells us she is still "100 percent with" Abi, but says Abi's paranoia is getting out of hand. Abi suddenly picks a weird fight with RC on the beach, and RC leaves. RC goes for a swim with Michael and tells her about how Abi bit her head off. Abi, meanwhile, goes and talks to Peter and tells him what the clue said. He asks if she tried checking the whole bag of rice. Peter tells us he's just "surveilling" so he'll know which moves to make.
Peter takes Lisa aside and tells her that "they" want to get rid of her first. He proposes getting rid of Mike. Lisa would prefer to blindside RC, but she's willing to go with Peter because she really has nowhere else to turn. Peter tells her it will go Mike, RC, "then take it from there."
Kalabaw: Everyone's just sitting around when Dana notices that emblem-type thing from the top of the rice box is gone. Jonathan and everyone else claim they don't know where it went. Carter, Dawson and Jeff go off to the side and discuss how it's clear that Jonathan pulled the thing off and it was certainly the idol. Jeff is stunned that none of them realized it earlier.
Matsing: The tribe's raft is gone. It's a "morale downer," as Malcolm puts it. He and Denise chat, and Malcolm says there was "no cuddling" with Angie the night before. Malcolm tells us that the next to go will come down to Russell and Angie.
Immunity challenge: The players have to dive into the water to release puzzle wheels attached to a line. Eight pieces need to come out of the water and be put together. The last tribe to finish will have to go to Tribal Council.
Reward is also on the line: The winning tribe gets a massive fishing kit, and the second-place tribe gets a smaller one.
Angie struggles to release the first puzzle piece and Matsing falls behind quickly. Russell makes up a little time retrieving their next piece quickly, but struggles to climb back up onto the platform and loses more time for his team.
Michael, meanwhile, is bleeding from the face after the mask he was using shattered.
Denise gets the third piece in record time for Matsing. Malcolm gets a fourth piece fairly quickly. RC, meanwhile, retrieves three pieces in a row for Tandang. Russell goes out for Matsing and comes back without a piece, again losing a lot of time.
Kalabaw retrieves their eighth piece first and starts working on their puzzle. Tandang gets their eight next, and Matsing has just six. Denise gets the seventh piece and Malcolm goes out for the last one.
Kalabaw solves the puzzle first, soon followed by Tandang, and Matsing will head to Tribal Council for the third consecutive time. No fishing kit, no raft, no victories.
Angie, who struggled to pull the first puzzle piece which was only two feet deep in the water and was not allowed by her team to go out for another one, immediately claims to us that Russell is the weak link because he struggled to get back onto the platform and went out a second time and failed to bring back a piece.
Kalabaw: After another win, Kalabaw celebrates and finds their new canoe waiting for them. Jonathan wants to win Jeff's trust, so he pulls him aside and tells him he has the idol. Jeff tells Jonathan he'll "ride in [his] boat" for a while. Jeff gives Jonathan a "four-finger handshake" instead of a "manly" handshake, which he says didn't mean as much.
Tandang: Artis is disappointed that his tribe did win, and he's annoyed that Michael shattered the mask by diving with the mask on. Artis is especially upset that Michael had been telling him not to dive with the mask. Artis "is about fed up" with Michael. Everyone is excited to go look for clams, Abi pulls Peter aside so they can look for the idol. Abi decides to "try to take the symbol from the rice off," and does it. She brings it right to Pete. Pete thinks this will help him get rid of Mike and "help neutralize RC."
Matsing: A dejected tribe gets back to their beach. Malcolm is upset that he's "stuck out here with just The Goon Squad of tribes." He's annoyed with Angie and Russell, in particular.
Angie walks up while Malcolm and Denise are venting, and tells them she wants to state for the record that she didn't quit. She says she tried, and would have gone again. Denise tells us she thinks it would be ridiculous to keep Angie, but she's not sure if she can get Malcolm to vote Angie out. Russell, meanwhile, is out alone and praying. He says his weakness "diving 10 feet down is just not my thing" showed up.
Alone with Malcolm, Angie continues to insist that she would've gone again and could have, but she didn't. Malcolm tells her that Russell quit, and Angie didn't. Malcolm tells us he hasn't talked strategy with Russell since Day 1, but Angie will do what he wants her to do. She tells us she trusts Malcolm. Russell, meanwhile, is getting pretty deep in talking about the obstacles his ancestors have had to overcome, including the MIddle Passage and Jim Crow laws. He says if they could endure that, he can endure whatever challenges come his way in life "and definitely in this damn game."
Tribal Council: Jeff asks Denise what she sacrificed to play the game. She talks about her family and her therapy practice. Malcolm is ask how meaningful this is to him, and he says it's "heartbreaking" that his "Survivor" experience is going this poorly after wanting to play the game since he was 12. "Frustration was Day 3, on Day 8 it's heartbreaking," he says.
He points out that Russell and Angie struggled with the diving part of the challenge. He says he and Denise could have stepped up more instead of giving every one a turn "like it's fifth-grade dodgeball." Angie says she's concerned she's in trouble, but says it made sense to let Denise take more turns. She turns the focus toward Russell, saying he gave up and she didn't.
Russell says he made a decision to stop what he was doing because he was going to fail, and he wanted to give his tribe a chance to move forward. He says he has more to offer over the next 30 days and Angie isn't ready. Angie speaks up and says she can't fight more than Russell. He laughs and says, "I was willing to die for this game the last time I played. Are you willing to put your life on the line, little girl, c'mon?"
Malcolm doesn't seem to appreciate the tone Russell has taken, and it seems to catch Jeff's attention, as well. Russell goes on to say that Angie didn't have the strength to pull the puzzle piece off the line, even though it was only two feet deep.
Angie starts to cry and says she feels "this small" holding her thumb and index finger not so far apart. Malcolm defends Angie, saying she's had to do more strength challenges that other "little girls" on the other tribes haven't had to do.
Denise says alliances and loyalty have to factor into a decision of who stays and who goes. Malcom agrees that the vote is a balancing act between strength and loyalty.
The vote: Russell writes down Angie's name and says he's sorry he made her cry. "I have to play hard or go home," he says.
Angie returns the favor, saying, "One thing about me is I never give up."
Jeff retrieves the votes and reads them: Angie, Russell, Angie, and the third person voted out is Angie. She smiles and turns to wish everyone luck. Russell makes a point to say, "Bye Angie," in what seems to be a genuinely sweet way.
Angie's last words: "You know, it sucks to be voted out the early in the game, but I hope that my tribe can go strong from here on out. I'm their biggest cheerleader, and, you know, I just appreciate life so much more now. I just appreciate how lucky I am, and it's helped me realize how blessed I am to have the life that I have."
