During the major fight sequence, Ricky Baratta (Vinny 9-Volt) accidentally landed a hit on Joseph Patrick Veltre (Leon Cromwell). As a result, Veltre sustained a broken nose and production was halted almost three weeks for his recovery.
Director Randy Troy had his phone stolen in the spring of 2010 and lived on and off without a cell phone for three months. He came up with the idea for the film after realizing how dependent and reliant society has become on technology.
The character Skylar Danson was originally intended to be on the verge of suicide before Leon arrives to inquire about his vintage Citroen. Certain constraints kept that fact out of production, but this explains many of the character's motivations in the film.
When production began, actor Daren Donofrio (Sgt. Mallard) was originally cast as Vinny 9-Volt, however due to an accident unrelated to the production where he tore his Achilles Tendon, the character of Sgt. Mallard was tailored for him and the character Vinny 9-Volt's role in the story was mitigated. The brace that Sgt. Mallard wears in the film was real and belonged to the actor.
The three major members of the "Energizerz" gang in the film: Ricky, Timmy, and Jason, respectively played by Randy Troy, Walter D. Jackson, and Drew Fiel) were named after the first three Robins in the Batman franchise. Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake. Character traits from each are shared. But the most obvious connection is that Jason Todd was the first Robin to die in the franchise and in this film Jason is the hoodlum who spends eighty percent of his time on screen in need of medical attention.
